Brand new iMac won't render animation

edited December 1969 in New Users

Every time I try and render an animation that uses an imported bhv file, it gets to a point near the end of its render and a pop-up window saying my 'start-up disk application memory is full' appears - meaning it can't continue and Daz needs to be forced to quit.

I have tried after re-starting, with no applications running, and the same thing happens!

My computer has 19.54gb of memory free, a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and I've literally had the thing about 3 months, there's no way at all it's full. When I check the disk usage I have 2.72tb free. I'm bad with computer terminology so forgive me if this kind of information is irrelevant, but this only happening when I use Daz. I used to be able to render animations fine on my 7 year old Macbook, albeit slowly but with no problems like this.

I use the 64 bit version; should I download the 32 bit version and use this instead? Would this make a difference?

I hope this makes sense!

    Hello,

can you please post whats at the last rows of the DS log (you find it in Help->Troubleshooting->View Logfile.
I haven't done much animations myself so I cannot say what's wrong, but you specs indicates that's there is either a bug in DS calculating free space when saving animations or the is something with that bvh file that makes DS go crazy.

Second, what render settings do you use in advanced settings? I know (from experience) that progressive render will leak memory like a Jerry Can on Omaha Beach on DDay.

I can't view a log file for my most recent render as I have to force Daz to quit - unless I'm being stupid here and I can view a log history?
I'm no Daz expert, so I'm using the default settings for the render - and progressive rendering is unticked!

    (a) Check with the Activity Monitor how much RAM DS is eating during the render (and how much free RAM you have).
    (b) What render settings are you using? Is this a 3Delight or OpenGL render?
    (c) To what direcrtory have you set DS to save the movie, and do you have privilegies to write to that destination?

I'll check the activity monitor when I attempt another render (working on my computer right now so can't afford to have put it out of use for another 2 hours), and it's using 3Delight. I have access to all destinations as I am the admin account, I've made sure I have complete access too. It only starts to become slow right towards the end of the render - the first several frames render quickly until there are only a couple more frames to go, and it just slows right down, freezes, and I get the pop up window claiming my memory is full.
Thanks for your help, by the way!
