Will This G2 Outfit Work With G3?

I'm interested in this outfit, but want to use it with G3.

So, my question is - will it work?  Will there be anything that I need to do to get it to fit properly?

Thanks.

It works fine on G3 using autofit, but you want to not autofit the straps. The feathers have a joint to them, which will get lost during autofit. Better load then without the character being selected, and then simply parent them to the shin.

I agree.  I found that some older content will warp during the autoconvert.  Also morphs for the clothing or hair can stop working after autofit.  This is true with some V4/M4 hair, especially long hair - autofit will create kinks in the hair.

It's very important to parent the unconverted clothing/hair, etc. to the specific body part (or closest one), not just G3 in general because it won't move with the figure unless you do.

If you are having trouble fitting older generation clothes to new figures, then utilities like Fit Control is a must have.  Poke-Away is another utility which works by shrinking the character so the skin doesn't poke through.   If you find other fitting utilizes for the generation you are using, get them.  You can never have too many, and one set typically covers areas another set does not.

  • I find the autofit really useful, and concur with the users above, this outfit should be fine. The only issue I have is with footwear, which invariably fails to work properly, mangling and mashing up around the foot/toe area...is there a workaround for the "autofeet" problem (see what I did there...)?

Sort of.  Shoes and fingernails (i.e. claw attachments) have a very hard time converting.  Flat shoes are passible as the distortion is minimal, but high heels are something else.

If the shoe doesn't mangle and only the foot is sticking out and it's a pair of boots (not open sandals or pumps), I have been able to get them to look OK on G8F.  The same method should work for G3 too.  That's the quick and dirty way.  See the link in my signature "(3) Fitting Old Shoes to Genesis 8".

I have seen some info regarding changing the rigging to fit shoes to G3F but it's advanced stuff. I imagine the same steps would work with G8.  Keep this video tucked in your belt and tackle the rigging when you are more experienced using Daz Studio.
