Not to interrupt your well deserved sleep (or rum, as the case may be), I was just wondering what happened with Elyot? He was in progress before Tathar, and then you stopped mentioning him.
Heya, vwrangler!
I put him aside in hopes of getting my "Halloween" release out in time, which didn't happen. I'll be working on him again, now. I've decided to go with John as his name. .......only because that was the only thing I could think of when I made his folder structure (my brain was strike) and the first thing that popped into my head was one of my brother's names. lol
That name may or may not be a touch problematic: https://www.daz3d.com/qx-john-for-the-brute-8
I don't know if Quixotry has their sliders as QX John or not.
If I might suggest: make all of his sliders something like "DM_John" to make absolutely sure that they don't combine with that guy or any others. (Although, weirdly enough, that's the only G8 John I could find either here or at Rendo. I guess it's such an ordinary everyday name that vendors avoid it. That said, there may or may not be some morph-only packages that use the name, and just don't have it in the product description.)
Hm. Yeah, I can easily update the sliders. Good idea, thank you for that.
Quick Update: Base Morphs, my addon, and Zev0's presets, fibermesh brow tester and a base skin that I haven't done much with except seam out. Will be working on that after figuring out what I did to get the duplicate formulas on his morphs.
and another:
Looks good in my opinion :)
Thanks! Still working on it, but the structure of the morph I think I'm happy with. Got the error message fixed (had to completely redo the Zev0 preset for the face, but eh, my bad), so it's onto the skin.
Well, I decied to tweak the head morph a bit further. I believe this base with the additional sculpting is more what I was going after.
The cheek, eye, chin, lower lip, and the entire skull shape got some touch ups, as well as narrowing the entire skull area a bit. Hopefully the moprhs will show more once the skin is on. ;D
This shader in zbrush does give a bit more of an idea of the subtle changes at least:
...and of course, trying to import the moprhs- the dreaded "polycounts don't match" crap shows up. Demmit.
I feel your pain; I've hit that more times than I care to doing the one for Carrie and the other characters I've done that are unique morphs.
My issue is, I've only used the Push and Smooth- nothing was taken out or added, nor have I used any unique brushes (that are saved to add polys as you go). Torques my tush.
Got it to work this time. Had to completely re-do the sculpt, but whatever works.
Yeah, that's what I usually end up having to do myself.
Updated base skin (still working on the non-diffuse portions), morph of the base face (the youngest version) and hair I forgot to check for clipping. ;)
My goodness! The young version is so babyfaced, but you can still see how he's can turn out to be something like the older version.
I agree with @vwrangler, and I like what I see so far :) great work Dar!
Thank you! Upper half render:
I think tonight I'll see about getting something together for the It's Raining Men thread. ;) THEN go back to work.
Just popping in real quick. I had a lot of posts to get through! I picked up your Male Morphs pack @DarwinsMishap. It looks great. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, sadly. I love your scar work. You always do such a great job with those. Can you do a custom eyebrow to go with that wicked looking scar? That would be awesome! Great work in here. It was fun catching up.
Why, hi KM!
Which scar, I'm confused. lol Usually am by this time of night. Thank you so much, and don't be a stranger!
Whoever this guy ends up being called. I took one look at the scar and immediately wanted him. It's wicked cool. There aren't enough characters with decent looking scars like this. I think this is still a work in progress, but it looks great so far.
When I was mentioning about the custom brow to work with the scaring, I was thinking back to this one which I think was mentioned is an earlier so the eyebrow might not be an issue by the time he's done.
I'm loving what I'm seeing so far with this guy! Sorry, I should have quoted before, but was tired by the time I got through the thread. Over 100 posts since the last time I'd popped my head up in here and the forums in general. I'm only now getting a chance to sit back and breathe until the next book comes out.
AH- I had to put those off for now because I was not happy in how the texture painting came along and the fact that I was still trying to get the scars to match the HD morph. I'll still keep working on this idea, however, because I like the possibilities a great deal.
On another note - if anyone has time, please let me know. I have a side project that needs a tester (and, please note, that this time there can't be any outside render postings of the project pieces, please). Please let me know via PM here.
I found testers, thank you everyone!
So what is next for DM?
Wanted to show off a couple of renders I did of Gigi for Charlotte 8
Very nice, Saph-thank you for posting those!
John is coming around, finally. The base skin is almost clear of seams (Found one on this render, but fixed it with post work for now). Have the base skin materials set up, the eyes, lashes, fibermesh brows and colors done. The second set will be for the older version; will be adding scars, etc. with aging details for a complete look.
So here is his base morph (younger version) and skin. :)
John (younger) looks good!
Very Nice!
Thank you both. I'm working on a stubble/mustasche in Zbrush-it's slow going, and I may end up making it a freebie if I'm not completely ok with submitting him with it. Dunno yet.
I think John is coming along nicely DM!
Thanks!
So I had to break out my old wacom bamboo (6 x 8 inch working space- ooooooold thing); Have the mustache started!
and the mustache with the stubble (Separated into two tools, and when in studio will be individual fibermesh hairs):
And oh...this is John, with the base head morph, the add-on older morph, and Zev0's dialed in Aged preset set to SubD3 to import into Zbrush. The first three tries with the stubble would not, at all, follow Zev0's morphs after I went through the process of getting it into Studio and saving it. Try 4!
Later- grooming. Oi.
