Saving, then loading a pose produces unexpected result

I created a custom pose for the Dinokonda figure (first picture):

Then I went to File | Save As | Pose Preset and saved it to a subdirectory of my Daz content folder.

Then I reset the pose (picture 2)

Then I navigated to the Content Library folder where I had saved my pose and double-clicked the icon of my saved pose.

Result: A pose was applied to the figure (picture 3), but it did not look at all like the one I had saved.

I also tried to save as hierarchical Pose Preset, with the same result.

What am I doing wrong?

I am using Daz Studio 4.10 if that is important.

Are you posing the bones or using pose control sliders?

  • @jetsmart: I used different things until I got it right (I am new to this)

    • mostly the easypose controls that come with "Dinokonda EP Plus"
    • the bend, twist and side-to-side sliders in the parameter pane

I may also have used the power pose tool, where you can pin down some bones and then drag the others.

It seems to me I should be able to save and restore a pose in some standard manner no matter what steps I used to construct it.

I attached the pose file, maybe that helps.

In case it might relate and/or provide additional clues, I had a similar issue (which I did not yet figure out how to resolve, but gleaned some info on).  https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/143111/save-load-hierarchical-pose-preset-without-changes

I know there used to be a sort of blind spot in pose saving, where anything set up using Easypose or the pose controls wouldn't be picked up — only posing done with the twist/bend/rotate dials on the actual figure joints would be saved into a pose preset. I thought this had been fixed long ago, though.

Maybe check the easy pose parameters, are they pose modifyers or shaping modifyers?

I have another idea what you can do.

Have a look at the "easypose controls" you are using. Choose one slider (Property) and open the Options (the gear symbol) to show the Parameter Settings. The 4ft setting from top is the Type of the Property that should be of "Modifier/Pose" for all your pose controls - if not it wouldnt be recognized as a pose Property and therfore its value will not beeing saved in a Pose Preset.

You could also try to first use "Bake to Transforms" Shift+B or choose it from the Parameters pane options menu, before you save the Pose Preset. This will convert all pose control slider values to real joint rotation values and it will zero the affecting pose control Properties.

  • Thanks for all the replies! I apologize for answering so slowly, I was away on business for a few days.

@spottedKitty: Thanks, it really feels like a bug to me. If I understand Syrus correctly, not so much a bug in Daz Studio, rather one in the EP addon for Dinokonda.

@sven dullah: It would appear that they are neither (see attachment)

@syrus_dante: That must be the problem, then. The Type of that property is "None" (see attachment). I will try the "Bake to Transform" thing!
