Shader Mixer

I am trying to use the DS 4.6.0.18 Shader Mixer but can't get brick output to connect to the DS Default Material input, in fact no brick output will connect to the input. where do I get help on using the 4.6 Shader Mixer

    Are you getting the dashed wire as you drag from an output (or input)? Are you dropping the wire on the circle with a letter denoting the type required?

    I am not getting a dashed line!

    I was following an older tutorial , it didn't mention you have to create a new Shader (under file in shader Work space)

    You shouldn't need to create a new shader to make links, though if that worked I'm glad it helped here.

    Just looking at the network and noticed the node on the marble is an f while the diffuse node is a c.

    Did you try connecting it to the specular which is an f node?

    I've noticed that sometimes when connecting nodes that some won't connect if they have different letters.

    I would suggest putting a mix block between the two bricks and plugging the marble into the alpha. That would allow you to change the colours on the marble also using the mix block

    Mostly they will connect - a numeric value, as long as it's in the [0,1] range, is converted to a shade of grey if plugged into a colour.
