How easy is it to use Vanilla Sky?

Some of the Vanilla Sky stuff looks really impressive, but with it all being built for V4, I have some reservations. How easily (if at all) do those shaders/maps transfer over to genisis 8? Any recommendations as to where I should start?

First you would need to use this to be able to use V4 maps on G8: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-victoria-4

You would also need to resave any material preset you want to use as .duf first ( load them on V4 or Genesis 1, then save a new material preset).

I'm not sure if the base Vanilla Sky actually has DS material presets. "Sky studio" expansion does and product name mentions DS, so it's possible, but they're not listed on the product page, They would be 3DL materials if any is included.

SSS upgrade is made to use with Poser SSS, there won't be any DS materials included and the Poser material are unlikely to give any good results when loaded in DS.

Thought I would update this since I did in fact get Vanilla Sky. I got the regular Vanilla Sky for V4 with no other add-ons. It has shader presets for omHumanSurface, omUberSurface, and Daz Studio Default shaders. As you would expect from product of this vintage there is no IRay support. Out of the box, Vanilla Sky will only work with V4 and Genesis 1. To get the skins to work on newer Genesis models, you either have buy Cayman's Legacy UVs, or buy V5 and go through the Map Transfer process..

Included below is a test render on Genesis 1 with the 3DL render engine. This uses the presets for UberSurface. The lighting is UE2 (Occlusion sampling set at 128) and 1 distant light (specular only).

Is it easy to use? For G1 or V4 super easy. For anything newer you will have to spend additional money to get it to work.
