Easiest is fake wall with window. Otherwise you need lighting inside and out, and make sure you don't have too much light reflecting into the camera.

I think what he is trying to say is that you need to put an image outside the window loaded onto a plane, to make a false wall which has the scene on it.

Basically it's a wrap around image that also lights the scene based on the light sources of the image. While not physically in the scene, it is rendered no matter which way you look and creates a very realistic light. For example from https://www.daz3d.com/ultrahd-iray-hdri-with-dof-seaside-resort.

The light would come from the brighter spots. and if you set up a room from the window it would show you whatever would be seen in that direction. Basically it is mapped to a globe surrounding your scene. Usually Iray.

    Edit: Image based lighting

The real problem comes when you want different lighting inside and out. You have to seal the room from external light (except what is coming from windows.) So you cant use a lot of the sets from DAZ which are open on one end.

You can, all you need to do is place a Plane across the opening blocking it up.

Yes, but a lot of the older sets (ex: The Study)  leak light at the joints. Your mileage may vary.

For similar scenes just make sure glasses are thin and keep tone mapping linear.
