I have just downloaded DAZ 4.6. When I open the program I get Resource Error
Could not open the start up scene: C/Users/...My Library/People/Genesis/Genesis.dsf file does not exist.

I uninstalled the program and reinstalled to make sure the directories were right, but it didn't help. What's wrong here?

You need to install the Genesis Starter Essentials file. It holds the Figure and free content. They are not installed with the program. The file will be in My Account> My Products.

The Install Mgr says it was installed and in the place it should be. I've double-checked the path and reinstalled the file, but it still says the same thing. What else can I do?

Go to Edit > Preferences > Startup
For the startup scene, it needs to read "Genesis.duf" instead of "Genesis.dsf" -- if you had DS4.0 installed previously it kept the scene it had before. Just click to browse and select genesis.duf in the same location (or just uncheck the box if you don't want Genesis to auto-load).

That helped, fixmypcmike and it gave me a place to start. So thank you!
When I did this, Daz found the genesis.duf but all the data files were still missing so I ended up with a strange looking block character. I also ended up with a Missing Files error message:
    /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf
Note the /data/ portion at the beginning of that.
I found the /data/ folder on my computer in this location:
    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D
The folder didn't contain the Genesis data files (including the Genesis.dsf), or for that matter, a whole bunch of other data files.
It's looking like those files aren't getting properly installed by the installer.
The quick solution for me was to go here:
    http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/#prod_14812
Select the 'Manual' download of the Genesis Starter Essentials.
The Content folder that you end up with has the data files that you need in:
    \data\DAZ 3D
If you copy those data files over to the folder where they're missing:
    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D
You should be good to go!

You need to tell DIM that you want to install to: C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

Or just point the DS program to the DIM default install folder like this.... You can just ADD the path below the other paths.

Hehe, reminds me of an expression I heard once, “If you can't bring a horse to water bring the water to the horse.”
What you guys are saying makes perfect sense but I think my problem exists between the proverbial keyboard and chair. When I opened the install manager I saw a mass of files that it wanted to download and install. Being that the products were already installed from a previous version I figured; what’s the point of that? I think maybe there is a point. Will let Install Manager do what it wants to do and see if DS is happy.
    Cheers and thanks!

DIM is a download and installer utility and nothing more. Do not let it just "do what it wants to do", click on the cog icon to open preferences and set it up the way you want it to work. For that matter do the same with Studio, I have never seen the point of having Genesis load at start or on 'New' and have unchecked those. With many new mid to high end desktop computers having an SSD for the OS and a mechanical HD for software and data it will become more important for users to take charge of their computers.
