Looking for a specific type of hair for male (genesis?) character

As I said, I'm trying to find specifically Black single braid hair that could be applied to preferably genesis 3 males. Of course if it could also apply to genesis 8 that's a plus. I'm trying to build a specific character. WHile free would be nice, I'm willing to pay a reasonable price too.

Additionally, I see mentions that items from say genesis 3 can be applied to genesis 8 but is that without doing some complex adapting?

The ability to use hair items on different figures depends on which type of hair it is. I'm not referring to styles here, but how the hair model is made. Most hairs are prop hairs - usually a skullcap with ribbons attached. When used with transparency maps, the ribbons or strips give the illusion of hair strands. I have never personally had a great deal of difficulty fitting such prop hairs designed for one model on the head of another. Autofit can sometimes do the work for you if the to and from figures are there, but if they are not and autofit doesn't work correctly, just turn it off and fit the hair manually, then parent it to the head. Watch out for items described as dynamic or fibremesh hairs as those are likely to be the least adaptable.
