Which genesis to invest in?

There are 4 different versions of genesis not counting the older V4/M4 content. As someone starting out where would you invest and why? What are the pros and cons of the different figures?

    It's probably a choice between Genesis 3 and Genesis 8. 3 has more content, though new stuff is slowing down; 8 has a lot of the staples, and can use more older content (clothes, hair) out of the box than 3 (though the conversions are variable in how well they work, with high heels there's not a lot of benefit). On the other hand, the original Genesis still has some unique monsters.

    It isn't necessary to pick one - you won't want to duplicate basics like the morph packs, probably, but you can certainly mix and match to an extent and there are ways to covnert a lot of content (either using the tools in DS, with a bit of fiddling, or using store products).
