newbie question - PoserCF
I only use DAZ Studio. Do I need to install the Poser Conforming Files (I think that is how it is spelled) from the content I buy?
FOR EXAMPLE: do I need to install the Epic Wings for Genesis PoserCF file or simply installing Epic Wings for Genesis will do the trick for me?
Comments
For Ds4.6 the needed files are DS and the PoserCF both. That is what my DIM installed with DS4.6 set as the only App.
Good Morning!
PCF stands for Poser Companion Files and they are for use in Poser so if you are only using DAZ Studio you don't need the PCF files.
IM tries to install them for me as well so I made a "Dummy" Library that I install all the files I don't want/need to that so they don't show up in my IM listing. It's pretty handy.
You are not restricted to just one Library you can create as many as you want. For instance I have separate Library folders for Genesis, Gen4, Scenery and Props just to name a few. Creating multiple Libraries can make it easier to load in your MetaData for the Smart Content tab as it allows you to load in just the Genesis or just the Gen4 information.
Hope this helps!

thanks for the replies
for now smart content is not displaying any content on DAZ for me... I know that I must do something for the to show up properly... but it should be AUTO when using DIM...
If a Older item calls the Poser Runtime Library to load the Object (not sure about the wings) both files are needed for the content to function. That is why I like DIM. It installs all needed files for the application you have picked.
I am getting to learn DIM now... I was not using it... and YES it is really nice... but I dont like the fact that by default it installs all the content to the ALL USERS instead of installing into the user that I am using on the computer... now I need to find out how to make the content show up on the SMART CONTENT TAB... as there is NOTHING THERE...
FOUND THE ANSWER:
On the Smart Content Library tab, click on the Options menu (the rectangle with horizontal lines in the upper corner) and choose “Content DB Maintenance” > “Process Metadata Queue”.

The gear thing.
I only installed GENESIS content, so I am quite sure that all of it has Metadata...
That was just a heads up, you never know when a item might catch your eye, with all the sales it's bound to happen one day.
