Posing is easy, expressions are hard ...

Using the Genesis basic figure, I learned to pose well, but how do I put some life in the face of the figure? Laughing, sneering, squinting. I hope there is a simple, detailed video for this.

Click on Genesis's face, then select the pose tab, then pose controls. In there you have all the facial controls.

Thank you frank, you're the Man. Is there a way to select both eyes so that I can apply the expressions to both at the same time? Also, is there a recorder to record a group of expressions - morphs so that they can be reused through a player or by a short cut?

With the head selected the eyes should move together. If you select the head (by clicking on the face as Frank said) you should see sliders to move the eyes side-to-side and up-down among others in Pose Controls. It's also possible to move each eye independently by selecting the eye itself.

To save a pose preset for just part of the body (for example, just the facial expression), click File>Save As>Pose Preset. Choose a name for your expression, then when the "Pose Preset Save Options" box opens up, de-select the checkbox for Genesis, and click the triangle next to Genesis to expand the list. Next, select all the body parts (nodes) related to the pose you want to save (in this case, select "Head" within "Pose Controls"). Click "Accept" and you should have your expression saved.

For future reference, you can CTRL click to select multiple nodes.

is in fast grab- and can give you some good expressions too. I'm assuming you can do what Scott-L said and tweak the expressions after you've applied them, just like any other preset.

I'm getting there, lol. Did a video on pose presets that have been purchased, will be doing videos on how to do your own for facial and poses, but currently involved with lighting videos which are taking quite awhile. But you've already found your answer :) so you are on your way! I know you'll have fun with it. Just do consider the preset products because you can use them as a starting point and change them.
