Are Pose & Animate, Actors/Wardrobe/Props- called tabs?

This is a basic question, but I'm not assuming anything and having to reshoot a video.

Are the Actors/Wardrobe/Props and Pose and Animate etc across the top called tabs? I can skirt around it by saying "Be sure you are working in Lights And Cameras" but I want to learn the correct jargon. The side menus are tabs, just am not assuming the ones across the top are too. (And it's the default setup, which I keep due to the videos.) So I would say "Select the Pose and Animate tab.." Correct?

And what exactly does the Region Navigator Tool do? I haven't included that yet. I asked back in Sept and can't find the darned post. (Explain it like you'd want it explained in a training video please!)

Correct, but remember DS is fully customizable so not all users will have the same layout. And some call/ed the TOP tabs rooms not tabs but that's a old story. Here is my DS and I fixed it to only show what I wonted.

ROOMS? Wow. And how were they decorated? With 3d art, of course...

Yeah, I'm keeping the default layout just because it doesn't really matter to me, and with doing the tutorials, people who are just starting (which is the demographic group for the videos) may have that setup. If they are comfortable enough to change it, then they'll still be able to follow mine as they are the ones who moved things, not me. :)

Thanks for the screenshot- very interesting!

I would call them rooms too.

Region Navigator helps to select regions and is connected to the Shaping Pane. Load Genesis select the tool and open the Shaping Pane and then start to select a region and that region will be highlighted in the Shaping Pane.

Well I'll be darned. Works good to. Added to my workflow just then. Thanks Pete.

The official name, by the Customise dialogue, is Activities (they were originally called Activity Tabs). One big problem with DS3 and describing things was a surfeit of tabs - Activity Tabs, Panes were called Tabs, they had tabs for dragging, and some panes and dialogues had tabs for different settings. DS4 has much improved that and I will ruthlessly hunt down and extirpate and fresh proliferation of the term.

Richard beat me to it...Activities, and that part of the screen is the Activity Bar. More information here: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/interface/start

I'm currently working on a mini tutorial about the user interface too. :)

My Acitivity Bar is at the bottom of the page and shows the processes. ;)
