I suspect that I represent a market size of 1, then. I would be willing to pay to have the best of both worlds: the fully unlocked 3delight engine, but, made fully and natively compatible with the Studio interface and content that I already know and love. I wouldn't necessarily want to go back to school to learn how to write code in the renderman language simply to render a scene with Vicky and Michael in it... that might be a bit extreme. Judging from your answer this is not a viable request. Sounds like I need to dig a little deeper into Luxus or Reality. Thanks. And I'm guessing Dibbler International is some cultural reference that's going completely over my head? What's that a reference to?

I believe that the Dibbler comment is in reference to Terry Pratchetts disc world books, in particular a character called Cut me own throat Dibbler.
I want to see greater integration of features many of us use, including some addons. My primary concern; the renderer.
I don't like having to move to LUX render and re-doing every texture and surface. Why can't we have a rendering engine / light model like this of our own integrated right into DS?

OF COURSE IT'S HIM! Who could miss CMOT Dibbler or his numerous cousins scattered all over the (Disc)world (the only person able to say "Try those sausages! They're so fresh the pig hasn't realised it's missing something yet!" is a relative of Dibbler)? The nickname is actually Cutting My Own Throat.
Nonetheless, 3Delight is a good rendering engine for people like me who are okay with learning the ins and outs of morphing, posing, material presets and such, but fiddling with the options for the rendering engine is a bit too much.
INNA BUN! ;)
You can render to RIB from DS, which produces all the code needed for a stand-alone 3Delight. It's not something I've tried, but others have and it does (broadly) work.
...how about a built in rendering queue manager like Poser Pro has? Would be nice to perform rendering in background without the application interface taking up extra memory.
I know that can be done with the Standalone 3Delight, however for many, it still only uses half or less of the CPU's available resources.

Thanks! The Dibbler reference did go completely over my head! I'd heard of Disc World but never got around to reading the novels. googling it was bringing up some Australian animal and some references to some Irish company...lol.
Perhaps using Bridge to Bryce would work better than .obj export? I'm not sure what there could be in a .obj that Bryce couldn't handle, but the .obj exported from DS is probably not optimized as much as it could be.
I would like single object render. What I mean is, in a scene full of items I would like to be able to select 1 item and render just it in proportion to the already defined render settings with all of the shadows etc still effecting it. I know it's possible to get this result with the uber surface but when I have 100+ objects in a scene turning on and off 'fanthom' can be time consuming.
Regards,
Bubba
I would like to see THE SAME PLATFORM and design, and like it more model creation friendly. Why I haven't started making my own models is because I simply can't wrap my head around hexagon or the others.
I'd like to see in DS v5 full integration with Octane Render. OR v2 has network rendering and v2.1 will allow textures to be loaded into RAM doing away with GPU VRAM limits. Cloud rendering is also coming. Maybe DAZ could do a deal with OTOY to offer DS users a discount if it becomes available in the shop. Works well with a relatively cheap GTX 760 and improves render times and quality significantly.
Also more compatibility with other 3rd party software such as Lightwave, Hitfilm 2 and even Vegas Pro. In fact, just make it compatible with all the software I use please!
What I would really, really like ... A Daz Dynamics tool that turns anything I want into a dynamic cloth, no matter where I buy it. From what I understand, since I don't use poser, to 'clothify'.
Then I could 'melt' clocks for surreal images, or drape a big cat over a figures shoulders, like he's wearing the entire cat's skin as a cape or camouflage, or drape a hair pose just or a split second to add a more natural feel ... So many possibilities ...
I'm still hoping for an eydropper tool in the surface tab. You know. Click on the difuse color and be able to get an eyedropper to sample something in the scene. I don't care if I have to hold down the control or option key to get it. I just want to have it instead of habving to flounder around by guess and by gosh until I get it right.
That would be super-cool, too. I use a lot of shaders to customize my scene and it get's cumbersome to 'select the item I want to copy the surface of in the scene tab, flip to the surfaces tab to copy it's surface, flip back to the scene tab to select the item I want to use the same surface on, then flip BACK to the surface tab to apply it to that item's surface' ... and sometimes, that just doesn't work, either.
An eye dropper would alleviate so much tab-hopping. Great idea :D
* The ability to export a single object in the scene without having to make the rest of the scene invisible in the scene palette since this usually crashes my session.
* The ability to collect all the assets in a scene so I'm not relying on a centralized data location, I don't mind larger file sizes, hard drive storage is not an issue any longer for the most part
* Layers would be a significant improvement to rendering parts of a render for decomposition in post work, overhead on spot renders.
* Composition tools for post render effects
* Bridge to Blender
...been a major wish of mine. I got a couple of the Optitex dynamic clothing sets early on but never usd them because the system I was working on choked when I tried to run any sort of simulation. Also cannot afford the 50$ full plugin.
Sad, because finally I have a decent Kimono, but it is pretty much useless without the plugin.

...+1 on that as well.
Another helpful tool would be a center crosshairs line. A lot of the time, I am trying to guess the center of my scene so I know what will be on the book's front cover, what will be on the spine, and what will be on the back. Or is there already a grid or ruler that I just don't know about, lol? (Highly likely)

I use dynamics in almost every scene and book cover I do. Absolutely love them, but there just isn't enough products and not enough variety among them. I HAVE Poser, but like Hex and Bryce, have no time or patience to learn them, lol. All I want to want to have to mess with is Daz and Photoshop. And if Daz changes their interface as drastically as they did when they went from DS3 to DS4, it'll be two years before I upgrade, again ... lol.
So that is probably my BIGGEST request, Daz. Add any feature you want, any new app or tool, but PLEASE, don't complicate the basic interface and make me re-learn everything, lol. I can learn one or two new tricks at a time within a program I am already familiar with, but changing everything is just too overwhelming.
...yeah same here about the UI. Though, I kind of have it looking and working like old Daz 3.1 as I went back to the "tree" display rather than use the Smart Content one (thus also giving me a much bigger viewport to work in). Besides, the CMS keeps crapping out on me and since the last update, the metadata for everything I had previously installed disappeared (not into continually playing DB manager when all I want to do is make pretty pictures).
You understand ... lol. I went through so much drama over losing my content. I don't the tree or smart content, I prefer the poser content folder because I have everything re-names and categorized to suit my warped way of remembering where to find what.
And like you, I don't want to spend my time re-learning my software. I just want to make 'pretty pictures' ... lol. Actually, my livelihood depends on it.
...mine is pretty much set up in a similar fashion, save for Genesis content.
I don't use Genesis. And with a lot of help, friends here helped me get the Ui close to what I was comfortable with ... But I lost so much stuff during the transition. Like I said it took me over two years to finally make the final move from 3 to 4+, lol.
I only have one issue with daz that i know can use some work. Daz Deformers need to be more flexible and diverse. Being able to create square or triangular shapes. instead of just a circle with a the center being the major influence.. Having a paint brush mode, instead of the standard transit morph. much like poser 2014's morph brush. being able to load a scene and not have your deformers all over the place and ruin what you've done. ts been the same basic deformer for way too long. with hardly any of its glitches or bugs being addressed, or fixed... i think its time for an upgrade...
...for a lot of my character creation, I need the versatility and "blendability" (for lack of a better term) of the Genesis Platform. A couple of the main characters in my story are teens and lack of a Gen4 teen figure was a serious and frustrating issue, trust me. I spent years (and lots of money on figure/character content purchases) just to develop a decent Gen4 based preteen/teen. With Genesis and G2, I not only have YT5 Julie & Justin but also the Growing Up morphs as well. My Leela and Tracey now look much more the way that I always pictured the girls.
Also, for now Autofit, along with smoothing and collision adjustment does a decent job compared to having to use third party conversion tools.
Granted, having full open dynamics at our disposal would help to "cure" many issues in cross fitting clothing between figures, but we don't have that (yet).
You can now use weight-maps on Dformers, since version 4.6.2.117
I love the new genesis 2 figure but I would like to see more sea life stuff and animals like wolves, deer’s , and many small animals need to be done better as well I can’t make them my self so if some one who is good at could do more of these I would like it but most of all we need more sea life and a new mermaid for the genesis 2 figure please. also need more ocean Environments once again thanks for your time. I think the big cat2 and the new daz dragon 3 are great starts but would love to see more animals like them please.
Check out Alessandro M's shop. He has been releasing some very good cute little furry animals recently, notably an awesome Raccoon. There's also a skunk and some bear cubs on the way.
Most of his recent products use his "Look at My Hair" plug-in, which also has a free player so you don't need the full product to use animals with Lamh texture presets. There is a website, www.furrythings.com, which has further presets for other animals, notably the Daz squirrel and Alessandro's own wolf.
Cheers,
Alex.
There is a mermaid product in store for G2F - with various other products to go along, also a bundle. A couple ocean environments are in the store as well.
