Texture colours changing? SolVed :-)

I don't recall this happening before so am puzzled and wondering if it's something known to happen, and possible solutions?

On computer A I made a texture set which included nice buff coloured teeth for an animal. Tested it. Works fine.

So I packaged and copied it to a flashdrive.

Brought it over to this laptop.

Tested it.

Teeth are 'too' white. I checked the image ... the colour for the teeth changed!!!!

I realize monitors may have different colour settings but everything else is the same so this is rather puzzling.

What would make; or why did, the colour change?

When you say you checked the image, do you mean you that the compared the actual texture file side-by-side with it it's copy on the same computer, and the file has been modified? Or that the files is the same, but when displayed in something like DAZ Studio when hovering over the texture with the mouse you see a difference (on the same computer)?
Of course if you are comparing between two different computers there could be a different issue, so make sure to copy the files back and compare on the same computer as the first step.

One possibility is that you THINK you are looking at the same file, but you aren't. Double-check file paths.
Another possibility: there is an issue with DS where if you have the same filename in two different folders, it may use Folder1\fileX while you are working on the scene, but if you exit and reload the scene with no changes of any kind, it will still change your scene and start displaying Folder2\fileX instead. This can be easily verified by double-checking the file path currently in use in your scene and see if it's still pointing to the original file it was supposed to or not, and a workaround seems to be to keep all images on your computer uniquely named.
Yet another possibility, although I assume you checked this already, is that you have somehow changed the material or some setting in DAZ Studio since you copied the file and didn't notice. For example you are referencing the texture but also accidentally set the diffuse color to something other than white in one copy of the scene, or lost a light, or something. If you can compare the two files outside of DAZ Studio and still see that they are different you can eliminate this possibility.

Oh I double checked and triple checked. Somehow the file I copied was colour A, I copied it to a flashdrive to transfer it as a new image to computer B. On computer B it is displaying at a decidedly different shade. It changed colour in the copying to the flashdrive as this image attached is from the flashdrive. I checked to be sure I had copied over the correct image file and I had. And further I don't have an image that would otherwise match this one with the pink white teeth. As I have not encountered this problem before I think it is rare, sure hope so.

Actually the one you posted looks like a yellowish tint of white on my monitor, not pinkish. Can you post a screenshot of the file on computer A too so we can see both together?

It does?! I wonder if there's something I can do to fix the colour display then on my laptop.

But first, yes, I'll go get a screenshot from the other computer. It's offline.

Well that doesn't improve things. Still looks yellow on computer A but again even the screengrab via the flashdrive looks pinky over here back on the laptop.

So think I'll go with there's something amiss with the colour scheme on my laptop. Thank you for helping. For if it's yellow on my main computer and yellow on yours, then it's my laptop that's off colour.

If it turns out to be a difference in monitors and not something else, the somewhat expensive solution is to buy a monitor calibration device (and you still may not be able to get them to match exactly if they simply can't be adjusted that far, plus there may be some margin of error due to he human eye judging brightness.) The Spyder is one product I know of, but there are multiple manufacturers and products available.
If you aren't trying to calibrate it exactly but simply want your laptop to match your other computer (even if both may not match whatever is considered most accurate worldwide), you could of course just fiddle around with the setting, if you have them. I don't know how you would do it on your laptop. My freestanding monitors have controls built into them that can be adjusted, plus I think Windows 7 has some calibration options in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Calibrate Color" that I haven't messed around with.

I'm seeing a yellowish color as well. If you open the texture in an image editor and sample the color with the color picker, what numbers are you seeing?

if it's yellow on my main computer and yellow on yours, then it's my laptop that's off colour.
In case we have different ideas of what yellowish and pinkish are, you could bring your laptop and the file to a third computer, perhaps a friend or at work or a public library, and verify in person that you are comfortable with your color choice.

Fixed! :-) Found a calibration option in the control panel and for the first in my life, used it. Wow! Everything looks a little different now ... had too much blue. So now my yellow shade for the teeth looks more yellow and certainly not pink lol ...

The laptop is basically just for online use so it doesn't have to be overly precise - however I do use it to check files before sharing them 'cause it can run 4.5 while the offline runs 4.0. I do not have another computer to put 4.6 on so that one has to wait.
