When I load a figure, there is no skin

Hi, I'm new to Daz. I was wondering whenever I load a figure, it has no skin on the contrary to youtube tutorial videos. The poser only has gray skin texture. Is it because i'm using female genesis and haven't downloaded male genesis essentials? Do I have to reinstall daz 4.9? Thanks

    Hi, I'm new to Daz. I'm just wondering, in youtube tutorial videos, whenever they load a figure it is accompanied with a loaded skin but whenever I do it, it doesn't show up. It's just gray and blank eyes. Is it because I've haven't downloeded genesis male models or is it something else?

    Have you actually downloaded and installed the Genesis Starter Essentials  packs,   there are 4, one for each generation of Genesis so

    Genesis, Genesis 2 Genesis 3 and Genesis 8.

    Are you sure it's not just that you are using a non-textured preview? Do other items load with textuers? Does a render (Render>Render) show textures?
