Paint on a texture in the viewport?

in New Users
I want to make a tattoo and for that I need to know where the place of the texture in in the 3D model is so I can make the tattoo in photoshop. Is there a way to paint a spot on the 3D model so I then later know where this spot would be on the texture map of the model?

Blender would probably let you do that - though I think you'd need more than a dot, you'd need to know how the lines needed to be cut through the tattoo and how it needed to be stretched and shifted (which can be done using a UV template, so you see where the polygons lie). Blender would, I think, let you projection paint the tattoo itself. Another option would be to use an Iray decal to project the tattoo onto the model at render time (as long as you are rendering in Iray, and as long as the tattoo doesn't need to wrap around).
