To to the Environment Tab (if you don't have it open, you can find it under Windows-->Panes in the Ds menu), and there you can plug it in. If you need more detailed info, you'll have to wait until I am at my PC for screenshots.
I went to WIndows/Panes in the DS menu as you advised. However, I still don't see how to load a .jpeg picture file into the background. Please forgive my Newbe need for greater detail.
When the pane opens click on where it says NONE and choose Backdrop. Click on the box with the white arrow where it says Background. Browse to where the image is that you want to use and open it. Remember to go back and change Backdrop back to None after doing the render or all renders will open with that image as a background.
Thank you. That did work. I was able to load a picture of a star filled sky as a background. However, as soon as introduced a DAZ genesis character, the backdrop disappeared. So what did I do wrong?
Any ideas what the problem might be? I thought I loaded the .jpeg image loaded as you described. I was quite happy to see it finally appear as it covered the entire background. Then I loaded a Genesis 8 character to see what would happen. The backdrop vanished and would not come back. Did I skip a step someplace? Any suggestions?
Did you check to see if the image was still loaded in the Backdrop pane. It might be it was deleted. Also make sure Visible In Render is set to on. The image will disappear for a few moments if you are viewing in Iray mode but will be visible when the Viewport re-renders.

Make sure the image used is the same aspect ratio as the image render size or it may not look right.

I've run into this too and while I don't have a good explaination, I just assume that's how the program is and load the environment last.
DDCreate,
Okay. I try using the same procedure and load the backdrop last. Thanks for your input.
I use images as a background quite often and this has never happened so there is something else going on.

Thanks for you help. I will try your suggestions.
