where is the Simulations Settings tab on DS 4.10?

I have looked at two or three different tutorials related to the new dForce feature, and they all say something like "go to the Simulations Settings tab and select blah-blah...."  Trouble is, I have no earthly idea where "the Simulation Settings" tab is.  I am assuming its one of the tabs like Actors, Wardobe & Props and the like up along the top of one of my main panes, or that its some other obvious, right-there-in-plane-site dingdoodle tat's walys, always, always right out where I can see it and click it.  Bear in mind that I switched to some other "skin" in DS 4 ages ago because some teach-yourself-DS dead-tree-edition book I started working my way through a year ago (then plopped aside and forgot about after the first couple chapers) recommended that skin because it had a lot less clutter and because the author was using it in the book, so I figured it best to use whatever the book was using.  Is it possible teis skin deleted all options of having "a Simulations Tab" in it?  oO

Attached is an image of what my Daz Studio Pro window looks like, with that skin applied.  I've actually long since forgotten how one changes that stuff, because I changed it early on, somehat liked the less cluttered appearance, and never looked back.  If the Simulations Tab is something I can manually add, how do I do that?

  • Window -> Panes -> Simulation Settings and put it anywhere you want.

I don't seem to have a dropdown named Window, either.  Where is that? (looks again...) Oh, I see the dropdown.

Okay, I'm trying to use dForce Master - Cloth Simulation Presets on an old garment, The product specifically states one can apply dForce effects onto pre-dForce garmants.  I have applied one of the presets from that onto some old underwear, but I am getting "Could not find a valid OpenCL device." when I hit the Simulate button.  Am I missing something?  oO

  • What video card and CPU do you have?

  • CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor            (3500.09 MHz)
    Memory: 32718 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 16299)
    Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2

  • Hmm, you are the second person today with a 10x0 card who isn't having it recognised as an OpenCL device. It certainly should provide the required level of support, even my 750Ti does. Make sure you are using a driver from nVidia, and if you are try updating or rolling back.

  • Well, related to this, I'm trying to get a handle on how to use dForce Master - Cloth Simulator Presets, but the included PDF isn't clear enough in how to make sure the modifier is applied.  I'm staring at the screengrab of DS on page 5 of the PDF, and it doesn't look enough like my settup in DS.  For one thing, while it appears I'm supposed to be on the Render pane, and be in Editor tab on that, and it shows there being a Render Settings tab and a Surface tab...  I am on the Render pane, I have an Environment tab, a Render Library tab, and a Render Settings tab.  I DON'T HAVE a Surface tab on that pane

    Am I missing something?  Oo

  • Window>Panes(Tabs)>Surfaces perhaps?

  • (Goes and invokes that one.)  Hmmmmm.... this seems to be the same one I have on the Actors, Wardrobe & Props tab, but the fact that the PDF showed it as if it was in the Render pane suggested to me it was a different thing altogether that for some reason simply had the same name, and since I've not seen any obvious way to pull up the menu that shows in page 5 of that PDF.  I see a menu that has options like Add dForce Modifier: Static Surface, Add dForce Modifier: Dynamic Surface, Add dForce Modifier: Dynamic Surface Add-on, and so on.  I have NO earthly idea how to produce that menu, and having clicked on everything that looked conceivably like it MIGHT maybe have something like that in it, over on the Surfaces tab in Actors, Wardrobe & Props, and also when right-clicking on the garment itself within the Viewport....  I'm at a loss.

It's right where the pdf says: Window>Panes(Tabs)>Simulation Settings.

The Panes are listed in alphabetical order. First attachment is a screenshot from the pdf, second is the Simulation Settings tab.

  • Okay, well, I have a character loaded and a legacy garment on him, I have the legacy garment selected in the Scene tab...   I'm in the Simulations Settings tab pane, and even when staring right at page 5 of the PDF.... I have NO earthly idea what button I'm supposed to mash in either Simulations Settings pane, or in the Surfaces (Color) tab, that causes the menu item showing here in the screengrab of the PDF to come up.  Every instruction I'm seeing here seems to be being made with the expectation that it should be as obvious as a neon sign as to what thing it is I'm supposed to click on in there.  All that clicking on the Base thingy you have outlined in the yelllow box yields me is a dropdown telling my I can select Base or Viewport, nothing beyond that happens there.  I sure don't get that pop-up menu with all the Add dForce Modifier selections in it.  oO  What am I NOT seeing here?  It's like I'm totally blind to what everyone else seems to think is gigantically obvious.

  • Try Window>Workspace>Update and merge menus. The menu should eb in the Simulation Settings option menu, which you can open either by clicking the lined button in the top corner or by right-clicking that tab.
