Thank you. I should probably post more renders made with the NPR product, that way I don't feel like the year I spent developing it was a complete waste of time. At least I can use it in my own NPR renders, so it's not a total waste of time. I'm totally bummed about not being able to release it though. I think it would have been a popular product and would be cool for making comics, I think.
I'm bummed as well.
This is a remake of an oder render. The orginal image was done with Hitomi in 3Delight. This one is IRAY with Sakura 8. Post-work was done on both.

Sakura is pretty versatile if you play around with her default settings and buy some of her add-ons (which I haven't yet but will).
I recently played with Cyberlink Power Director and the iray render of Ultra Scenery from Daz Studio and I like the results...
Not bad at all.
Thanks a lot.
I did a quick animation of my comic character with my NPR shaders. It's my first attempt at animation and I had to watch a couple of tutorial videos to figure it out. But I'm glad I did. It's a really neat function of Daz Studio that I hadn't explored before.
You should be able to see the short video here:

I'd say pretty good for your first try. The shaders look better that some 3D anime I've seen recently.
Oh thank you, tkdrobert, that's really nice of you to say. :)
scratching my head, trying to figure out how to buy such fine shaders...
(simply beautiful)
hmm,

You're quite welcome.
Another character concept image. It's a raw image with no postwork. The models are still stylized, but have normal sized heads unlike the pure anime models. I like this so much, I'll probably use these guys for my main Graphic Novel project instead of the short strip I was thinking of doing. In addition to this image, I'm working on a panel image for issue 0 of my graphic novel. I think issue #0 will be relatively easy, because it's just a set-up issue. Writing issue #1 is going be harder. I can write stories, but writing dialogue is harder more me. I guess I'm like George Lucas in that way. Good at ideas, not so much at wrting dialogue.
Oh thank you for the comment! :D
Sadly the shaders got broken with the latest update of Daz Studio. I explained a little bit about it here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/5619696/#Comment_5619696
I believe in the latest build of Daz Studio they made changes to some of the Shader Mixer MDL bricks, which could be what has caused the NPR Shaders in my product to look completely different now in the lastest Daz Studio build. A friend of mine is taking a look at it to see if there might be anything to be done about trying to get the product to look decent in the latest build of Daz Studio, but it's not looking great so far. So chances are it's a product that, unfortunately, may not be able to be released. I'm trying to stay optimistic though that it might, perhaps, be saved. I don't want all that time and work I put into it to be for nothing - Plus I'd just really love to see what the community would create with it.
Oh I really like these two! :D Nice work! I look forward to seeing your first issue.
I hope you can get it to work. We sorely need NPR shaders that work in IRAY. I have a few iray toon shaders, but not enough.
Thanks.

Working on comic styles
just lurking - too many brilliant images toc omment on them all - so I comment on none ;)
simple carrara terrain , grass is hair with lots of kink and the top thicker than the bottomn - the moon is a sphere with 1000 percent dialed up in the colour channel - fog and sky by carrara fog and sky - birds and rain by ron - postwork - tone mapping in affinity pro and painterly effect custom filter with topaz impression - render is 4000 pixels if you click
When did @mmitchell_houston leave that comment? I think I'm not seeing his comments.
Beautiful work! I really your renders - they're like storybook illustrations. :)
ah it must have been a few pages ago - tells you how long since I logged in! my apologies.
thank you for the comment on my work - story book is where id like to be
your plugin/product for Studio looks terrific - if I could do renders like that I would be in bliss - sorry that Daz keeps changing the ball park
Oh ok! Whew, I was worried I had offended him with my feedback on his comic and worried that he blocked me. lol
I am a little concerned about him though, since I haven't seen him post or comment for a while. It seems like he usually posts more often, so I hope he's ok.
Thank you for the comment about my NPR product! That's really sweet of you! :D Since it's looking like it won't be able to be released as a product, I'm going to have to use it more often so that I don't feel like I wasted all that time and effort making it. I'm going to try to focus on developing my comic with it.
Hey there! Thank you for your concern (no, really, I'm actually very touched). I've just really been a bit out of sorts lately with work and stuff that I haven't felt much like being online.
Healthwise and workwise I'm fine, but it's just that working at home 8-10 hours a day, sitting in my office staring at my monitors, day after day, has left me a bit drained of my creative juices. In other words, I sit here all day and then when work is done, I just don't want to sit here anymore, not even to work on something fun like art or posting comments. I just want out of here. But this has got me thinking that I may get one of my laptops and use it on the porch or someplace so that I can keep up with people here and at R'osity (a few folks over there have also wondered where I've been keeping myself).
But, as I said, health and emplment are both good. Just a bit tired and worn out by all that's going on in the world.
BUT... I am finally getting some creative energy back, as you'll see in a moment when I hactually have something kinda new to post.
Thanks again!
Hey there I I tried posting this earlier today, but I was on WiFi and something happened so I took it down.
Last year I was working on an RPG game book (a collection of adventures for the RPG Galaxy Prime by Epic Age Media) when the project suddenly went kaput for a variety of reasons. Last week I learned the project was back on and so now I'm hustling to finish the cover and provide about five or six interior illustrations for this mostly text book.
Since I'm in a time crunch, the publisher is happy to have me up-cycle some concept art I had created for a sci-fi comic book I'm slowly developing. In fact, the reason he okayed the interior art was because I already had this stuff in the can and could quickly provide it and a few new illustrations.
So, here's the first of them. The pages are 6x9 inches and will be printed in b&w. For a change, I'm providing a page border so you can see how the art will fit on the page.
Each of the illustrations will include that circle element – I decided on it for two reasons. First, having a smaller background is quicker. There is just less stuff to illustrate, so I can do it faster. And secondly, I think it looks cool and adds a sense of movement by having the main figure pop out of the circle; it's got a nice graphic quality to it.
I'm so glad you're alright! And I totally understand about being worn out about what's going on in the world. It's certainly scary out there. I'm just holding out hope that "this too shall pass" and that one day (hopefully soon) we will have a more normal world again. I miss normal - seams like we haven't had normal for years (it feels like years). It's exhausting, for sure.
I think that's why the art communities are so important right now though - creating things helps get one's mind off of the craziness and helps one to relax (and it always helps to have an outlet). A nice cup of coffee or tea and a creative session for making art is soul healing (at least for me, I can't speak for everyone of course lol). :)
I'm really glad to hear that you're ok and that you're working on your art again!
Oh very nice! I really like the graphic element to it. The layout and execution looks really good. And you're right, it does bring a nice feel of movement. Very cool image!

feel the same way -- I don't know if I would even recognize "normal" if it put on mime make-up and performed right in front of me. It's exhausting, both emotionally and physically. Right now I'm at a park near my house and I'm decompressing by watching the full moon reflect on the water of a small pond. Just getting out with my dog and sitting on a bench is soothing. Thanks again for your concern!

[EDIT: BTW, the order of this post is all out of whack because I wrote it on my phone in the park. It's just very hard to do, since between the header and the keyboard, I can only see two lines of text at a time.]
Thanks again!
