Fireflys and the Trouble with them

Hey guys, Ive noticed in some of my renders, mainly the one im currently working on, I just cant seem to get right of the white specks on things like skin and armor. Its not an excessive amount but its definately something you cant pass off as light reflection or dust. So if anyone has any tips on how i can get rid of them, im all ears. Ive tried tinkering with lighting, enviroment settings, made sure all materials were iray, but i just cant seem to fix it.

Can you show us an example and a screen capture of your render settings, etc. as a starting point? It may be that the render simply isn't resolved, or it may be something else, but it is difficult to suggest solutions without having some idea of where the problem may lie.
If you use realistic materials and light conditions in your scene then the firefly filter in render settings should work fine.
If for any reason it doesn't then you can try to change the nominal luminance from the default value (that's zero for automatic computation) to something between 100 and 400, depending on the materials and light conditions in your scene. Be aware that, for example, setting the nominal luminance to 200 may also dim your reflections, so this is a "double-face" trick.
Another "trick" that you may like is to set burn highlights to zero in the tone mapping settings. This has nothing to do with fireflies but will avoid overexposed spots in your image. Technically, the default settings simulate better a real camera behaviour where overexposure may happen depending on the light conditions and camera settings. While the zero value simulates better the human eye that always adapts to the light conditions by changing the iris aperture. So the human "mental image" is some sort of normalized HDRI.
Here is a render of a simple character. No lights other then enviromental lighting, and draw dome and scene on.
Most of these aren't fireflies (which are always just 1 pixel), they're the camera default headlight reflecting back into the camera off the very shiny surfaces. Switch the headlight off in the camera parameters.
