i have some clothes i made in 3ds and i want
to make them as a daz asset.
how do i go about doing this?
what software do i need?

Probably just DAZ Studio itself, assuming you have modelled and UV mapped the items in Max and can export them as OBJ. However they do need t fit around Genesis, ideally in the zeroed state but a morph can be used if need be.
yes i unwrapped it and it will fit around genesis base
do i need to do anything special so that if i morph
genesis the clothing will also morph?
Well, there needs to be enough mesh resolution for the morph but other than that no, with Genesis morph transfer to fitted figures is automatic (though in some cases you will want to edit the morph to look better).
