...main store page is screwed up. Sigh, what's new, after all this is Magento, supposedly the best commercial site software available (and if you believe that I have five or six bridges here in Portland to sell you).

I think for that you shouldn't blame for Magento, but "it is being prepared for the next sale burst of stuff". Check what's gonna happen in "promoted" section! Pretty cool stuff!

My first PC was during '98. I went from that to ME, which I promptly removed after my first BSOD within 30 minutes of installation. After that was an XP machine a friend built for me to play Unreal Tournament 2004 on. After that I built them myself with XP and just rebuilt for better gaming and Windows 7 towards the end of 2011 just before Battlefield 3 dropped.

The first computer we had in the house was a Commodore 64. When I got interested in programming, my brother in law gave me a PC, it was an XT...with an amber monocrhome monitor. A good friend instantly upgraded it for me to a Turbo XT, and gave me a Hercules graphics card. it was still monochrome, but it had better graphics resolution than a CGA card. It had 640K of RAM and a 20 Meg hard drive and a 5.25" floppy drive. I eventually upgraded the video to CGA, then EGA, then VGA. I also started to get upgrades to the motherboard...286, 386, 486. Of course, the video jumped to SuperVGA, and the hard drives and RAM got larger and larger. Then Pentium arrived.

Boy, there's been a lot of change...and more to come. I like the move to flat panel monitors. I blame CRTs for my deteriorating eyesight. Staring at those tubes for hours was obviously very bad for my eyes. I used to be able to see a single fiber of a thread that was bent and keeping the thread from going into the eye of the needle. Easily. Now I'd need a magnifying glass to see that. It sucks. Flat panels came too late.

The CRTs Ruined My Eyesight Complaint Thread!

    Dana

Ah floppies... back when they really were... floppy. I remember upgrading to a zip drive and thought it was the coolest thing on the planet.

I really don't think I could still do anything on a CRT anymore, but at least I've stopped looking for the degaussing option lol. I'll stick with my HDMI setup. o_O

It's ok, you're not crazy. The scrolling banner is empty for me too.

Unless we're both crazy.. then we're screwed. lol

...never seen the scrolling proms go down like this. For over a year now the site has been so buggy it's ridiculous. And still:

    No Filters.
    No Galleries.
No more Vouchers (because Magento "can't support them).
    No embedded .gifs.
Continual log outs form the Forums (with the forum login page never showing up).
Sales and promos not working correctly (or at all).

Magento's track record over the last nearly thirteen months has not been a very good one so when something new goes wrong can't help blaming it for the failure.

Magento apparently USED to be really good and at the top of it's game. Too bad the image that's been linked around here before showing it's performance vs other store systems was created in 2008.

...yeah, according to one very reputable source I know, this was the wrong software fit for Daz's needs.

Yea, I think Magento might be more for physical products than digital. The way the PC club works on here also feels more like a glorified newsletter subscription rather than an actual membership program.

...just put Ant Farm's Checkpoint in the cart and instead of the 13.97$ price as listed it shows at the full 19.95$. Yep the store is borked alright.

Yea. It's only showing the 30% off on the thumbnail. The main product page has full price as well.

Had to buy a new router today as mine screwed the pooch after only a couple years, but on a good note I did one hell of an upgrade from a Netgear WNDR4500 to an Asus AC66R. At least the new one is DD-WRT firmware capable if need be.

I feel for you. I'll be finding out tomorrow what my CC is going to have to sacrifice to get my computer back to health.

    Dana

Here's hoping it's something easy and simple and doesn't require a complete rebuild, because yea, those are SO much fun. /sarcasm

Yeah, aside from the lack of funds (the biggest part), that is part of why I'm still running Windows XP.

    Wxp is a workhorse!

Mild annoyance with all sorts of things.

Feeling sleepy. Today is very rainy, which is of course an improvement over parching heat, but rain makes me sleepy.

Poor quality of sleep. Ugh. Kept waking up at random, needed a nap later during the daytime.

Ah well. At least my new Eurohippus fur is coming along nicely.

OK, I had to look that up. My best guess is you are making a LAMH or Garibaldi fur for the Daz Horse to make it look like an extinct species of European horse?
ETA: Scratch that. I see there's a model of the Real Thing™ at Content Paradise.
Doesn't look much like a modern horse, though.

Yep, it is an ittibitti ancestor of modern day horses, totally adorable and cuddly. If I could have one as a pet right now, I'd take one!

And yes, I'm doing a freebie LAMH fur for it, and I ended up making a new skin too! With new SSS shaders!

For some reason complaint thread fills up fast, but Stupid thread takes time to do so. Almost complaint-worthy.
