Can't Get Eyes to look at object

I'm having a helluva time with Elijah 7-- for some reason, in my current WIP I can't get his eyes to go where I want. I've cranked the EYES SIDE TO SIDE and EYES UP AND DOWN sliders as far to the right as they'll go, but in the render, he insists on looking off in space. Is there a cheaper solution than Look At Me Pose Control ($32!)

If you expand the bones down to head, there is a bone for each eye. Select that, and there is a “point at” parameter that can be set to any object in the scene - either the object itself, or possibly a null you insert into the scene.
one thing to note - if you’ve done this, when you reload the scene, the “point at” isn’t always restored properly - you sometimes have to shift the figure or the object to get it picked up. (Increment x and then decrement it, for example) One way around this is to use “point at” to figure out the individual eye settings, then put them in manually.
Have you unticked use limits if that's possible?
