Marking old items for use with Genesis 8?

Hi, everyone - I've been toying with Daz Studio for a little while now, but for the first time, I'm trying to make use of Genesis' (specifically, Genesis 8 Male's) backwards compatability. I think it can use clothing and hair from Genesis through Genesis 3...and textures too if I've heard right? Is that right?

I figured out how to get to the older files in Smart Content by unchecking the filter by figure (can't remember the actual name) box, but is there a way to mark compatible older content to just show up under Genesis 8's filter to begin with? Some way to change content settings or something so Daz just knows which ones work and shows them in Smart Content even with the filter for Genesis 8 content on?

Also, is there a way to "save" content for Genesis 8 once you've set it for it the first time, so you don't have to set up the autofit options again each time you load the item? Not that that's really time consuming, anyway, but just wondering - I'm terrible at remembering which figure was the original for the various items I own, so it'd be great to just go through, set them all up, and not have to do it again later. (Actually...do you even have to do it again later? I'll admit I'm not sure I've tried reusing an item I already autofit once.)

    Thank you - that's a very handy section, but I'm not sure that it answers what I'm looking for, quite - what I'm looking for is a way to make the files I can already use show up in Smart Content while I have a Genesis 8 Male figure selected without having to deselect the "filter by context" option, not a way to use more content. (If I've misunderstood and that's somewhere in there, my apologies - I just wasn't seeing it, possibly because I'm not really sure what to look for.)

    I don't use smart content, sorry. It is too Clumsy and does't give me fast results, so I work with custom categories.

    You would probably have to change the data in the database to also include G8.

    what I do, I simply use the content Library. Under People, you find Genesis, and in the subdirectory clothing.
