Is there an easy way to transfer all G2 morphs to G3?

I have Genx2 and all the plugins but I can never remember how to use it because I do so very infrequently,

I was wondering if I would be able to just somehow selct G2F/M as the source and G3F/M as the target and have it convert all available morphs in 1 go instead of going morph by morph.

Hmm...I think sickleyield has a tutorial on her deviant art page with tutorial of transfering morphs from one generation to another using the "transfer morph tool."

That's an awful lot of steps that genx can do easily (if I could remember how)

But I'm thinking/hoping that it can transfer all our morphs in one go. Unfortunately when I try googling transfering morphs with genx I get a bunch of sites to download genx illegally and tutorials to transfer using the method you mentioned above.

Here you go, this is the PD tutorial that comes with the Genx2 product.

    Thank you

I guess I should have looked there first. It does say all morphs can be transfered at once so I'll have to read through how to do that.

So once I get all my morphs to G3, the next step is to get them to G8

I have the script written and shared here on the forums (G3 to G8 Morph Transfer) which lets you transfer a single favorited morph

Has there been anything better since?

And lastly What would I need to get my textures from V4, G2, etc. to G8?

    Nope.

    UV addons.

It's actually far more convenient than that: you favorite one morph and the script will (ideally) transfer all the morphs from that product in one pass. That means, all of Zev0's Growing Up, for instance, but also, and more interesting in your case, all of the morphs generated by GenX.

    Oh thank you both :)

I think I'll need to pick up the UV add-ons since I don't think I have them

and if the script does that, then that will definately make transfering the morphs to the final stage so much easier :)

  • The script does not transfer a single favorited morph.

I would know. I wrote it.

It uses a single favorited morph as a hint to locate the folder said morph's file is in. It then transfers ALL of the morphs in that folder.

If you set a custom folder for your GenX transfer from G2 to G3, then use my script after favoriting one (and only one) of those transfered morphs (and nothing else, you can only have one morph marked) then the script will eat up a lot of your CPU and run for 20 minutes to, I dunno, 6 hours, depending on your CPU speed and cores and transfer everything in that folder.

Honestly, I wouldn't recomend doing that. But I have stress tested it up to I think 500 morphs, and it does do the trick.

Of course, I'm working on something much, much better, now. But that won't solve your question for some time.

  • I'm glad to see you all excited.

    Singlular Blues:

I absolutely love your script and I am so glad you stepped in and filled the transfer hole.

I do have a question (not specifically towards your script though) I've used your script before so I know I have a favorited morph already but it was quite a long time ago. Is there an easy way to find it so I can unfavorite it and choose another?

    *edit*

I think the favorite was reset. I'm pretty sure I went through the entire list of morphs (I have a ton now) and didn't see and filled in hearts.

    Agent unawares:

you mentioned UV add-ons, is that something here in the store or another site?

  • Favorites aren't saved under most circumstances. You have use special save actions to save them. You can always see what is marked as favorite  by selecting "Favorites" at the top of the parameters tab where is has "All, Favorites," and "Currently Used."

And no problem. It's important to be very clear on what script does or people might end up with throusands of morphs being moved  and huge mess. The next iteration of the script won't be like that, fortunately.

I never noticed the favorites there, just the currently used LOL

    :) it's 40% done converting all my Genesis 1 morphs to G8

I did find the UV addons mentioned earlier and have all them saved for purchase.

I just finished converting all my M4, G1 and G2M morphs (3477 morphs total) in 5.33 hours :) and I'm not on all that powerful machine (3.2 GHz 3-core cpu)

I had even more for the female (probably easily 2x that many) and that only took about 8 hours or so to convert.

  • Hi Please help. I converted on V4 Character using Genx into G2F. Is it possible to convert it in G3F or G8F. Which script i need to use. Is there anytool. I read the post on this thread, I see there is one which convert G3 to G8.

Kaokbliss, which script u used, Please assist me. I got few V4 which I need to transfer into G3 or G8

@Creativewebsparks, You can go as high as G3 with GenX, but you'll need to purchase the Genx2 Addon for Genesis 3. This addon requires the base Genesis Generation X2 and the GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2, which I believe you already own base on your comment above. It is highly unlikely there will be any new addons as the artist has, sadly, passed on.

The script that is referenced in your second quote was available in the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread. However it is no longer available. You may be able to use informtion from the tutorials that Redz (aka RedzStudio,) provided in that thread. Here are the links:

Redz's Tutorial for Morph Transfer G3F to G8F
Redz's Tutorial for Adding Clones to G8F

I've used both of those tutorials quite successfully, and I can recommend them both.

Thanks I will give it a try. I am slow learner, so I think it will take a lot of time.

So..I've done this quite often from G2F to G3F with Gen2X. But it's been a while, so my memory may be rusty.

Once you get Gen2X up and working (other tutorials available on the forum), then:

    1. Choose SOURCE: G2F

    2. Choose MODE: Selected Morphs

    3. Then under MORPH: Look in (region) Actor and put a check mark by each morph you want to move over to G3F

    4. Choose TARGET: G3F

    5.  And I think that's it. The options I use are 1. Transfer controlled morphs, 2. Transfer dial groups 3. Transfer CM with dependent morphs

What I'm taking from this thread is that Singular Blues is working on a new morph transfer utility, and I'm very much looking forward to it. Fingers crossed it supports Genesis 9. I'm looking forward to making more use of the new model.

This thread is several years old, so I wouldn't take it as an indication that they are currently working on anything.
