Break Apart a Prop

I want to "break apart" a solid prop.
I want to obtain one UK flag on a pole. I have purchased "Wooden Bleachers" by Predatron. When I try to use this prop it imports a single prop containing 4 flags on poles. Does anyone know a method that will allow me to break this prop apart so I can just use a single flag?

  • Actually, think I have discovered the solution! Using the geometry tools to select the unrequired polygons, then change their visibility to hidden, and then delete the hidden polygons! smiley

You can also delete unused geometry after hiding it  & then save the remains as flagpoles with flaags as prop/asset.

Yes, that is what I am just doing now! Really pleased and surprised how much Daz Studio is capable of when it is not a modelling app.

I have just used the Joint Editor Tool to edit the centre and end points of the single flag (& pole) prop I am now left with.

  • For faster results next time, if there's one already aligned with the center (there usually is), you can select and delete the ones on either side of the center. Of course if there's 4 and the center point is between 2 and 3....

DS has almost the same functionality of Poser, at least in regards to the Geometry Editor. The D-former tool is not as refined as Poser's Direct Manipulation tool, though. It's good on larger objects, or minor morphs on figures. Still, if you're familiar with Poser's tools, DS' operate similarly, they just go about it in a different manner.
