Is there any way to import animations to Daz? Please share your workflow!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Daz and would like to find a way to import animations made in other programs to Daz.

I saw some older posts saying that bvh is not supported for genesis 8. I made some tests and it seems to still be true.

Specifically, this is what I did:

-import Genesis8 character to Iclone7

-animate character

-export animation to bvh

-try to import bvh to Daz

Animation in general looks fine, but hands are not aligning. Please see picture I have attached. In Iclone fingers are touching, but in Daz they are not even if rotation limits are off. In bvh import dialog all nodes are aligning perfectly(picture2). I have latest Daz version 4.10.0.123.

Considering this, my question is, if not for bvh import, is there any way to import animations for Genesis 8 at all?

Do you know any workflow how to do it? Maybe using Blender as intermediate or something else. Please share any tips or observations! I have also attached my test bvh file, in case anyone could show how to import it in Daz.

You remembered rotation limits off, but probably forgot to unlock nodes.

Before you import the BVH :

    1) select the character in the scene, right click, select children
    2) edit, figure, lock, unlock selected nodes
    3) edit, figure, limits, limits off (rotation)

That works for me on a base G8 figure with your BVH

If you still get bizarre results , it might be that your mapping is incorrect. You would need to double check and go through each one (select one by one by left clicking and highlighting it) and making sure it's mapped correctly. You can save the map so you don't have to do it again.
