Figuring Out How to Get Michael anc Victoria 5 in Poser 9

Hi All,

I am an utterly confused newbie. I have tried reading some of the documentation and forum topics beforehand, but I am STILL CONFUSED. So, please forgive me if I am asking something that has been answered before, or if I am asking something that sounds incredibly stupid. I have Poser 9 (just got it a little while ago), and I would like to import Victoria and Michael 5 into Poser.

I am finding this VERY confusing. I have the DSON installed. That's good to go. I installed Genesis and, after a lot of sweating, he's there. I installed Genesis in my Poser downloads folder, which is what some tech support at Poser told me to do. I tried to install Michael 5, and I am not seeing any figure coming up like Jessie or Daz's basic male. What I am seeing is morph dials (I guess that's the right term) that let me shape a Michael 5 mesh.

Is that all there is? I thought there would be a separate figure. I thought I would have a fully textured model like the basic male. Do I have to just add the textures myself manually or what? I don't know if I have screwed up or not. Is this is right or not? If it isn't right, how do I add Michael and Victoria? I have a Windows 7 OS. Please help someone.

Sorry, if this is in the wrong place.

All the Gen 5 characters are morphs of the base Genesis shape so they are morph dials.

However, you should have an icon for loading the Michael 5 shape (or any of the other Gen 5 shapes) which would load Genesis with the M5 morph set to 1.

It should also load with the default Michael 5 texture instead of the basic Genesis texture or no texture.

Thank you for replying. When I look in my library in Poser, I see the icons for Genesis including basic male and female etc.

But no Michael or Victoria. And the figure loads as Genesis, with no texture. Is there something I am not doing right? I loaded the application file for Michael and Victoria into the Poser downloads section.

But I am not seeing anything. I don't know what to do. I installed genesis starter essentials and the one for Poser into the same section. I also have the Poser 9 update that I am supposed to have. DSON is working okay. What gives?

Did you install the Poser CF files for V5 and M5. They are needed. If you did I'm stumpted.

    Hi Jaderail

Yes, I did install the Genesis CF files in Poser downloads. All I have is the morph dials. I don't have any figure I can see listed like Genesis or even the Poser figures Jessie in my library. There is no icon for Michael or Victoria 5. I don't know what to do.

Hmm.. I'll ask a few power users and see what they know. I'll point them here to see what you see as far.

    Thank you Jaderail,

What I meant to say is I have Genesis and the basic variations (basic male, female, child) listed in the "my library" catalogue. I don't see Michael or Victoria 5 in spite of installing the product with the executive file in "my downloads" in Poser 9. I am very confused.

If I could help more I would. I'm 100% Daz Studio but try to know the proper stuff to help all users. This is just beyond my understanding.
I have asked for help for you from other Poser users.

Here is a screen shot of what I am experiencing. I took one of my downloads folder. Oddly, I have Michael and Victoria listed. But if you look at the "my library" screen shot there is nothing to indicate any figure is present.

What is the full path to your "My Downloads" folder?

Never mind, I see your screenshot. Did you install the Michael 5 PoserCF and Victoria 5 PoserCF files there as well?

What you see in the Poser library is not what you're showing in the My Downloads folder -- those are the DS files, not the Poser Companion Files. And the M5 and V5 you have are .dsf files, which means they are DS4.0 versions, which won't work in Poser.

    Hi fixmypcmike,

I am confused by your reply. Are you saying I don't have the right files in the my downloads folder? Are there Poser specific files I am missing?

Poser will not display DS files. The PoserCF files have .cr2's and other Poser files that appear in the Poser library. It looks like you have the Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF, but not the ones for M5 and V5, and the M5 and V5 files in the People\Genesis\Characters folder are older versions.

The .cr2 files should be in Runtime\Libraries\Character\DAZ People

Looking at that, I suspect that some of the needed files are in Public Documents/Poser 9 ContentDownloads/Data, try moving the Data folder to the Public Documents/Poser 9 Content folder instead and see if the items will then load (and if they do make a bug report, though having one content directory- Downloads - inside another - Poser 9 Content - is not the sort of thing DS likes).

    Hi fixmypcmike,

You make me wonder if I have all the correct files. I did get both figures as a freebie from 3D Artist magazine last fall. They were on the disk that came with the magazine. I have been able to get them to work in Daz, but I prefer Poser. I don't know if there are Poser CF files with this deal.

I just saw your post Richard, I am going to check my data files. But I'm not holding my breath that there.

Open a support ticket and ask how you can get the products you got on the magazine disk added to your account, so you can get the latest versions.

How do I open a support ticket?

Open the Help menu at the top of this page (the site menu, not the browser menu) and follow the links for Contact Us
