I'm getting two error messages upon installation...
The first one reads:
"There was a problem setting environment variables for DAZ Studio due to permissions settings.
DAZ Studio will still function properly, but other applications may not be able to locate this installation of DAZ Studio 4.5"
Then, I get:
"Could not open up scene: Documents/DAZ 3D/studio/my library/people/genesis/genesis.def.
File does not exist."
Any ideas?

The genesis Stater Files COME with the DS4.5. They are are in your downloads. It is the Free content that comes with DS4.5.
The installer is Genesis Starter Essentials. One thing to watch, if you use the DAZ Install Manager, is that it has a different default location to DS itself - it's easy to change* or use the installer from Product Library.
As for the other issue, are you an Admin or a regular user in the account you were installing under?
* In the DAZ Install Manager click the gear icon at top-right, then in the settings dialogue go to the Installation tab, click the + button at lower left and select the Documents/DAZ 3D/studio/my library folder, then click Accept. In the Ready to Install tab of the Install Manager click the Install to Where? button at the bottom and pick the Documents/DAZ 3D/studio/my library folder from the popup list.
