Wanted to show of BadKittehCo's new Classic Biker Gear Two .  Check out the SENSIBLE boots!  Great variety of colors and textures too.

So, here is what I want to know...

You don't need a "crossfire" setup to run two Nvidia GPUs for DAZ, right? You can run as many GPUs as you have PCIe slots, and DAZ will see and utilize every card's GPU... with the limit that the card with the lowest amount of RAM will be the TOTAL RAM available?

I've got a DSLI capable motherboard, but it isn't Nvidia Crossfire ready. I've got a GTX 1070 8 GB... and I'm thinking of either adding a GTX 1070ti, or a GTX 1080 or GTX 1080ti...

Which is going to be the best bang for my buck on increasing render speed, and will this work? I don't need the extra RAM of a 1080 or 1080ti, I mean... that is going to go to waste, but I find that I hardly ever approach the 8GB max on what I have. But don't the 1080 and 1080ti have extra cuda cores?

I can't figure out if this will even work, and if it doesn, if it is worth paying the extra for the faster cards... or if I'm going to get the most increase in speed for each dollar spent just going with a 1070 that matches the card I have.

    Suggestions?

Just to clarify the conversation, Crossfire is an AMD term. The corresponding NVIDIA term is SLI. I can't answer your questions, though.Sorry about that.

You do not want to use SLI, just have both the cards on your board. Adding another card stacks very efficiently. Adding the same card will be allllllllmost but not quite twice as fast, adding a better card will be better than twice as fast, etcetera.

Not quite. Assume two cards, one with 8GB and one with 11GB, and both enabled in the Advanced tab of the Nvidia settings:

If the scene uses less than available memory on the 8GB card, both cards will be used for the render.

If the scene uses more than the available memory on the 8GB card, but less than the available memory on the 11GB, the 11GB card will be used for the render.

If the scene uses more than the available memory on the 11GB card, the CPU will be used for the render.

I have some numbers. I had a 980Ti. I bought a 1080Ti, but kept the old 980Ti. The cards don't use SLI (I think they both need to be the same model for that), and the monitor is plugged into the 980Ti. All times are for rendering the same image at 1600 x 1000 (attached)

    980Ti 8:55
    1080Ti 6:02
    1080Ti + 980Ti 3:40

It's not as fast as two 1080Tis, but it's way more than twice as fast as the 980Ti. I'd expect those numbers to scale for different card configurations.

I think that the cuda cores for two cards do add up, even if the memory doesn't. That should give some increase in speed already.

I love this image! The outfit is great (and it's been sitting in my shopping cart since I saw it), but the artwork on this takes it to whole new level.

I understand that not all motherboards are created equal in terms of number of PCIe lanes available, even though they may have multiple full length PCIe slots.

If you have your primary card in the first slot, which generally has 16 lanes available, does anyone know whether, or how much performance is hit if your second or third cards have only 8 or 4 lanes.  To simplify this question, let's assume that you are using the same type of card in two slots.

I think the number of lanes may affect memory transfer speed, but even if that is true, I have no idea how that would impact render tmies.

@tangoalpha   I'm loving that two sets of yours (which I have wishlisted) are in the sale. End of the Tracks and Containment Level. I have almost everything else.

I haven't seen anyone mention the 30% off coupon in the rotating banner. Good only today. Don't miss out.

I hadn't seen it until now, but I have seen a mention of it, but assumed it was a message-style one that I had not got as I've not bought much lately!

Won't be online much as really busy, and another horse died last night. He was 34 years old, and the owner had since he was a colt. I am headed out to the barn this evening to put flowers on the grave, I have a feeling she may be there. I know when Nova died I went back to his grave the next evening, as it was peaceful and not a hectic time. So not ignoring anyone, just not online. TTYL.

Aww hugs for the owner.  Its so hard to let them go....

Oh my. Hawaii gets hit with a 6.9 earthquake, which most people know about. But then 32 minutes ago, the Phillippines get hit with a 6.1 quake. Fortunately it was offshore. At least with hurricanes we know they're coming.

So sorry to hear that. Losing an animal can be just as hard as losing a close friend or relative. 34 years is a lot to spend with anyone! My condolences to your friend...

She sent me a text this evening showing her golden retriever sniffing her flowers that she put with mine. It made her feel better to revisit the grave after having a day to recover from the trama of burying him. Thanks for the thoughts, all.

Question.  Would you folks select Genesis 3 Female in Scene, then go to File>Save As> Pose preset and make a file (just name it test or whatever) and when the popup for Pose Preset comes up, will you go to THE BOTTOM where it says Pose Controls, tell me if you're seeing Chest, Clothing, Hip in the list?  I don't get why one computer has it (the desktop) and my laptop doesn't. Same version of studio, (the latest adorable one that crashes) and everything is the same. It save the pose preset just fine, but I don't like that some of the Pose Control section is missing.

@nath   Thanks for checking. I don't know why the laptop won't show the same options. I definitely don't want to save any Pose Presets with missing submenu options.

I don't see them on my desktop in beta 4.10.0.123.I don't see them in my old 4.8 either.

If I have time I'll check on my laptop.

I imagine the difference is because on one computer you have installed a product for G3F that comes with Pose Controls for those area and on the other computer you have not installed that product. On the computer that has those sections, expand them with the arrowhead all the way down to see the names of the controls in that section. For example, I have "Hip" when I expand it, I see Glute Control, because I have purchased and installed that product.

@barbult   Ahhhh, I don't even have to check, based on that. The laptop is bare bones, and the desktop is of course loaded with thousands of products. You're a genius- as usual! I'll post a link to your post on the other thread, to help others. And thanks so much @xmasrose  @nath
(And anyone else who was looking into this. Really appreciate it.)

Be sure to check the featured stores in each banner sale, one is in multiple sales so you know what that means.

@feralfey  A heads up. The Lawn Tool poses have an extra space in Genesis 8 Female so it's making a duplicate out in the main menu in Content Library where it says Genesis 8 Female. Yours is Genesis 8 (space space) Female. That needs to be fixed and updated so we don't have duplicate labels for main figures.

After causing that uproar in the Another Sale forum, I wanted to share a render I did with the mullet hair and the trailer and some kitbashing of a few other pieces of content. Took me a long time with instances and arranging, and still isn't really final ready. Thoughts later. Now I'm gonna go have a beer by the pool.

I saw 3 PA featured stores in different sales but I don't know what that means.
