Can anyone tell me what's going on here? ( posing error )

So I've been doing a lot of importing and exporting from ZBrush with no issues. Just updated to the new 4.10 DAZ and I'm getting this issue on some of my older saves. Not sure if it's directly connected but it seems like it's tied to the update. It also seems to be causing an issue the GoZ addon as everytime I try to export back to DAZ I get the dreaded "topology has changed" message.

Here's a before and after of me simply moving the "open mouth" slider to 100%.

Two biggest offenders resulting in topology has changed:

    1) The model while in daz studio has not been reduced to sub division 0 under Parameters>>General >>Mesh Resolution> Sub divisions before GoZing to zBrush.

    2) zBrush renamed the subtool and when you GoZ it back to Daz it fails with that error. Easy fix. Change the name of the subtool to exactly match name in the scene tab. For example: A shirt in the scene tab may be named "Nice Shirt" but the sub tool name may be "Nice_Shirt_1". Just name the subtool back to "Nice Shirt".

Anybody have another topology change scenarios to add, I would be glad to add that knowledge to my toolbox. This is the most common error I get and its annoying.

The second could be it. It comes back to DAZ as Genesis_3_33. Seems like I have 32 prior saves with no issue though considering it made it all the way to 33 before and error. It's gotta be something with the update. Hopefully DAZ looks into it.

Strike that, still having the issue. Probably just gonna have to end up rolling back to 4.9. Hopefully I can do that without too much of a problem.

One more detail I forgot to mention after unmatched sub tool name is changed to match daz studio item name exactly. Sometimes (and not always) you still get the dialog box that says, "Hey, create a new object" because the topology has change, however the update option is enabled and you can select it. Go back and see if the update option is enabled. If it is select it and it will Daz will swap out the new box for the update box and all is good. Its real easy to miss that detail because one becomes accumstomed to easily write it all off when the new object dialog box shows up and then one just closes the box. Check that one detail for the update option being enabled and selectable.

Another scenario that just came to mind, which is not as common is, but is related to unmatched names is....

You GoZ different objects from Daz into zBrush however zBrush seperates the objects when they arrive into zBrush. You look at your subtool list and see some of the items you selected came over. Check primitive object menu that you can select from and see if those additional daz assets are hanging in zBrush ether of primitive objects. If so, you can append those objects to your subtool list and when you do it of course zBrush change the name of the object and you have to match the name to what Daz Studio has before you can GoZ it back to Daz Studio.

  • Ok, so I got the ZBrush issue fixed. It seems one of the clothing assets that was getting sent over with Genesis was causing the issue ( never had that happen before ). Still dealing with the deforming mouth from the posing though. It's a quick workaround to fix it by just exporting my current shaping morphs to an older save but I'd definitely still like to know what's causing it if anyone has any ideas.

  • Does the morph chnage the overall size of the figure?

  • When you create a morph, you need to adjust the rigging to shape, or you can get strange results when you pose like yours.

No when I use ZBrush, I'm mainly just using the move tool to change the shape of different parts of the body to get a better result than the sliders and I use the smoothing tool to get everything to flow together. I don't add or subtract anything from the mesh.

The thing is though, I've never had to do that before. This is the first time I'm running into this problem and I've been importing and exporting stuff from ZBrush for a good year and a half or so.

Yeh I had to roll back too due to import/export issues. Similar thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/207841/4-10-export-problem/p2
