"Heart Of The East" repeatedly crashes DAZ Studio

I just bought Stonemason's "Heart Of The East". As soon as I load the environment, (regardless of iRay or 3Delight) DAZ Studio crashes.

Any insights?

I am still on DAZ Studio 4.9, Windows 10 64bit, 32GB Ram, Dual Xeon, GTX 1070

Edit: 4.10 also crashes.

Thanks in advance.

best wishes,
Xanathon

  • Do you get the Daz crash report, or does it go straight to desktop/OS crash alert?

  • It goes straight to the desktop, but I do get an error window.

    error

  • Actually that is the Daz crash report. Click Speichern to save a zip with the report details, including the log file. You could then open the zip, open the log.txt file, scroll to the very end and paste the last few lines here.

  • The stacktrace in the error window said something about Octane, so I installed a new version of octane. Still crashes, but the stacktrace no longer has any octane related messages.

I uninstalled the resource, deleted it, rebooted, reinstalled, but to no avail. I also reinstalled DAZ Studio 10 and went back to an ealier Version of the nvidia driver, all without stopping  the crasjs.

The last lines of the log only show messages about loaded image resources, e.g.:

    2017-11-09 20:44:13.050 Loaded image geRocks01_Normal.png2017-11-09 20:44:13.104 Loaded image geRocks01_Roughness.png2017-11-09 20:44:13.158 Loaded image geRock02_Roughness.png2017-11-09 20:44:13.351 Loaded image geRock02_Normal.png2017-11-09 20:44:14.084 Loaded image geArch_Normal.png2017-11-09 20:44:14.275 Loaded image geArch_Roughness.png2017-11-09 20:44:14.321 Loaded image gePlaster01_Normal.png2017-11-09 20:44:14.500 Loaded image geRoofTiles_Normal.png

It seems to me that DAZ Studio crashes before it can write the crash events into the log.

It was the Octane plugin. After deinstalling it I still got Octane error messages in the stacktrace hinting at octane.dll. Once I deleted it from the daz install folder, everything is fine.

I will report this to Otoy.

The Octane plugin,I've had others recently experiencing crashes because of that plugin,I only have Octane for 3dsmax but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the instancing that is often used in my environments..this is something only Otoy or the plugin maker can fix
