Eyes transparency into motionbuilder

Hey,

I have a problem. Every character I import from daz into MB has weird eyes, lashes and hair. I've been searching a lot from the internet and every single answer seems to be the same

"You lack transparency map".

I tried to find a youtube video showing me how to do this, but I could not find one. I found an article "http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/pub/tutorials/dazstudio/studio-export01", but the images are 404, so I have really no idea what to do.

It seems like I need to use photoshop, which I am complete noob in. I am also very new with MB. Can someone explain me, maybe with images, what I need to do in order to get for example G3M eyes to look atleast little bit normal?

I attached an image from MB showing the problem. I also attached image from the folder where the FBX-exporter put all the materials. I have no idea which of those I need to modify and how.

  • Please don't post textures, even reduced.

I don't know how Motion Builder handles Oapcity, but all that should be needed is to set the opacity of the eye surface to zero (or a very low value) and apply the existing transparency maps to the opacity channel in the materials - you don't need to edit them.

Sorry about that. I think I can manage to set the opacity in MB for zero, but you are talking about existing transparency map, which I cant find anywhere. I posted the screenshot of the folder of all the materials imported with G3M.

  • There are several ways to do this in mobu

the easiest way, is to make sure that you "merge" the diffuse and opacity textures, you can see a quick video here https://bryan_steagall-hotmail.tinytake.com/sf/MjA5MTM4Nl82NTYyNzk4

If you want to keep all your maps separated, then it is a little more involved.. but for most things this should be enough..  If you do want the steps for the other, let me know

Edit: Thank you for the clip, it explained it very well.
