Giuseppe's Eyes

I just bought the new Giuseppe and I love him, but there's something different about his eyes. I have a use for him, but I need to have his eyes a much darker brown. I tried to put darker brown eyes from two different characters on him and he renders with what looks like plastic bubbles over his eyes. I've looked in his parameters and I can't find anything new added to the eyes. How can I get his eyes to look normal with another character's eye colors? I do this all the time with other characters and never have a problem. This is a new one for me. Is there something I'm missing with him?
