iRay Uber Base

Hi,

I'm not exactly a new users, but I have a question. I have been reading contest entry tutorials regarding scenes, lighting and things like that.  In all of them, granted some old, have people selecting the entire scene, minus cameras, lights, etc., and then applying the iRay Uber Base to the scene.    I've seen renders before and after, but in my own things, I can't tell a lick of difference.    Is using iRay Uber Base even necessary, now?

Thanks,

Scott

DS already converts shaders to iray automatically, so simply applying the shader makes no difference except maybe saving a bit of time. It's only really useful if you want to adjust settings.

Thanks, Leana.  That's what I thought.  wink

It's also required if your item used a custom 3DL shader as DS can't convert those automatically.

Thank you for the tip.  I have pretty much avoided 3DL up to this point, but one never knows.  I'll keep that in my back pocket.  Thank you again, Leana.

Some 3DL shaders can still be useful with Iray. I'm referring to fabric shaders or anything that has maps. I recently use Ye Olde Cloth shaders to retexture a dress and then converted them to Iray.

Ye Olde Cloth is a set of presets using the standard shader, so they convert well, and they're pretty awesome :)
