List of DS hotkeys??

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hi all,

It seems like this has to exist SOMEWHERE, but if so, I can't find it! Where can I find a printable list of hotkey shortcuts for DS? I really live by these because in the long run, they're so much easier on the hands (and wrists, and shoulders, and the entire chain of body mechanics) compared to always using a mouse. They pop up in the menus, obviously, so there must be an actual list somewhere in the world. But WHERE??

There is this PDF document here (for DS3) but still relevant:

You should have a look at the Edit > Customize menu (F3), where you can set up your own Hot Keys as well.

Well...what I was hoping for was a printable list of pre-existing hotkeys for DS, so that I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. Doesn't that already exist somewhere?

Not that I know of, sorry.

You can fully Customize DS4.5 by adding your own Hot Keys. Perhaps someone else will know of a printable list is you just hang on for a little while, sorry I can't help more.

Poser has a copy of this list in the official ref manual and a paper copy that comes with the CD install. Look-- I'm sorry, but this is why I cannot get into Daz, at least until I've had more of a chance to actually learn on Poser. I can't make it work without standard documentation. I have never seen another piece of software of any kind in thirty years that doesn't have this. With all due respect, it's ridiculous. Sorry. I don't mean to be difficult, but I've spent hours and hours trying to hunt down all different types of problems that could have been answered in seconds by the ref manual that comes automatically with every other piece of software in existence on earth. .

Sorry I can't be more helpful than this, but I have a list of the defaults as a screen print which I stuck to my desktop (jpg copy attached) - problem is, I can't remember how I got this list - I know someone somewhere in the forum gave instructions on how to get a list of currently-used shortcuts and this is what I got - as I have never modified my setup since installing DS4.5, this should be correct for you too.

Ah! I just googled and found out where in the forums this was from - answer is that it was a script given by rbtwhiz which produces the list of your current keyboard shortcuts - here is the link http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/5152/
Maybe there's a way to write a script to print the list, but I'm not a scripter myself?
ETA: I think the list it produces has to be scrolled down to see it all - I think I did several screen prints and glued them together in Photoshop to get that single image in my previous post.

    YAY!!

(Not about the script, exactly... I know what you mean about not being a scripter... ;)

Save image as, cut and paste to PS, export to tif, and print! :) Thanks!!!

    Thanks, keeps it simple

I've downloaded the image of the shortcut keys and got it in a preview window (on my old battered up second monitor)

It's up to you to print anything that you see on a computer's screen. It's always printable by definition. There are no "un-printable" lists cheeky

You'll find a list of existing Daz Studio shortcuts here :

BUT this official list is incomplete (!!) and most listed shortcuts don't work. Nice job Daz3D.....

Check this other page for some damn useful and verified shortcuts :

    Cheers. wink

That's Hexagon, not daz Studio. The script linked above is the ebst way to get a current list of shortcuts - especially if you have customsied them.

I thought I once saw a script by Rob (Whisenant) that could list all hortcuts in DS, even after you'd customised them. Was I imagining it? I hunted through the docs and couldn't find it.

Think the OP is satisfied, but if anyone else might be curious.  (I'm not a script person & like a PDF printout.)

Pretty sure they all work, but only been using them a month.  ; )

For those put off by its being a script - several of the embedded DS functions, for example Symmetry and Drop to Floor, are scripts as are all the old .dsa and .dsb presets. For this oen just download the .dsa file and launch it by finding it in the Content Library and double-clicking or just drag it from the downlod folder to an open DS window.

Well done, Richard! 'Action accelerators' indeed! Nothing like an intuitive title, eh?
