How can I improve framerates in DAZ Studio?

What I mean is, if I am animating something, and I want to preview it in order to adjust the speed, what little things can I do to make the displayed animation inside DAZ Studio as close to the intended frame rate as possible?

  • What setting do you have in Edit>Prefrences>Interface for Display Optimisation? What preview mode are you using in the viewport?

  • Setting the mesh resolution and preview window lower (where applicable) will help. If you're using meshes with SubD, turn them off.

Alternatively, if you know how fast a given motion is in reality, and you have your framerate, then it should be easy to calculate. Assuming you're going for some level of reality, anyway.

I've found that it helps to have a life model, or even video footage, for whatever I'm animating so I can watch it move and study the variations of a given motion sequence, like a plant being blown by a fan, or something on a stick you can wiggle, or someone performing a given motion in a non-acting situation (because actors know they're acting and don't always move naturally, especially those with modeling and stage experience who are used to the more dramatic motions and poses used to sell products or convey a story element).
