Can I re-open an image to make changes?

I'm new here; the first image I created has the basic silver skin ~ can I re-open it and adjust the skin color?

The image, as in "rendered image saved at the end of the rendering process" (the image you posted here)? No, or perhaps just in postwork like Photoshop or gimp.
However, if you have saved the entire setup (character, clothing, environment) as a scene before closing studio, you can re-open that file and change whatever you like in the reloaded scene.
It doesn't look like a skin texture has been applied. You'll have to add a texture rather than adjust the surface colour
If you are worried about the render time, you can always use canvases to only render the skin, and then add it to the image afterwards in Gimp/Photoshop.
Is that rendered in Iray? And what character is that?
The skin might use a specific 3DL shader (like the SSS shader for example) and so automatic conversion to Iray would not work.
Keep in mind that working in 3D is not like working in e.g. Photoshop. There are two completely different types of files; scene files, which contain a description of how all the objects in your scene are set up (pose settings, light and camera settings, materials settings and links to textures, etc.) and render files, which are a normal image of a camera view looking into your scene.
Thanks!
