Pose Preset Question

In a nutshell: I saved pose presets, which worked when I tried them again in the same session. Came back to DS a couple days later and they no longer worked properly on the same figure as before.

Explained in more detail below:

First I clicked on a figure whose pose I wanted to save. Then clicked "File" then "Save As" then "pose preset" -- gave the pose a name, then clicked "Save"

Next I reposed the figure, and saved the new pose, under a new name, as a second pose preset. So now I had two pose presets in my pose library.

15 minutes later, I selected the same figure in the scene, which I had reposed yet again. But this time, I clicked "File", then "Merge" then I went to the Pose Preset library I have, and clicked on one of the two poses I had saved 15 minutes before. It worked great. The figure in the scene took on the pose I had saved. I then tried applying the second pose preset. It also worked.

But here's the problem. I closed down DS, came back to it a couple days later, opened the scene, selected the figure, and tried to merge it with one of the two poses I had saved a couple days previously. The figure however did not go into the pose I had saved, but into a different and somewhat disordered one. I tried then merging the figure with the second pose I had saved a couple days previously, and again got a somewhat disordered pose I had not saved (though this was a different disordered pose than I got a minute before).

Could anyone tell me how to reliably save a pose? Thank you for any assistance.
