Hi
CMS was working fine in Daz4.5 installed on my Win XP os.....I then decided to revert to Daz4 and now I'm unable to use the CMS for the "products and categories" functions in the Library Content.
According to "msconfig" the CMS is running however the triangle symbols are not displaying to the right of the product and categories buttons in Daz Studio....is the fact that CMS seems to be blocked the problem or could it be something like a corrupt database?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the CMS and Daz4 several times over the last few days.....arrrggghhhh haha..... and I've noticed that the installer for the CMS installs the folder for the database in the root of C where as the rest of the program is located in Program Files.....is this right?
this is driving me nuts and I sure would like to get it back up and running so I can use my Daz3 content in Daz4!
any help will be appreciated
thanks

The CMS included with DS4.5 is a different version from that with 4.0 - it's possible that 4.0's simply can't read the 4.5 database files. You could try stopping the CMS, going to the folder you told it to use for its data and deleting the .ind file, then restarting the CMS and then launching DS.

    Hi
I only have one file in my Database folder named "master.vdb"......I noticed that when I was using the uninstaller for the CMS the Database folder was not being removed....so I tried deleting it before the last attempt of installing Daz4.....was this something I should of left alone?
in my online research I've read that the database is sometimes located in hidden folders with something like "programdata" as part of the folder path....is this for an os other than WinXP?
    thanks

As far as I know the database itself is in the folder you are apparently looking at - and if you deleted the files or folder when you uninstalled that should have reset it, for good or ill, anyway. I'm afraid I don't have any more bright ideas.

The best way to reset the CMS if you have your "bad state" is to stop CMS, then remove all the CMS folders manually, then reinstall DS 4.5 (it will just reinstall DS, not any content or other plugins), and during install Check the [x] Customize Content Manager Installatgion, then choose a "same location" as before, but to ensure it will really install it.

I did it this morning... on Mac OS X though, as I had ucessfully crashed the DB, if that can be called success.

    Hi
I finally got the CMS working yesterday.....I decided to try installing Daz4 in a different location and in doing so I had to set up a new application rule for my Outpost firewall....it's then when I realized that was probably the problem all along.....meaning that the Daz4 .exe in the previous location was probably mistakenly blocked......how typical.....one small oversight that caused days and days of frustration!!
however maybe actually installing in a different location helped as well.....in the future I may install Daz4 back into Program Files along side Daz3 to test the theory that it was just a blocked .exe....I'm just happy to have back easy access to my old content in Daz4.
thanks guys for replying and trying to help
    onward through the fog!!!!
