GenX2 Not Working in 4.10 Beta

First off, I know this is probably a long shot, as the creator of the plugin has since passed away. But to anyone who might have an idea...

I'm working with the 4.10 beta currently. Most everything works well insofar as plugins go. But GenX2 is not. The tool window shows up as normal, but I am unable to click on any buttons to load a figure into the plug in, or drag/drop ones (such as Victoria 3 or Michael 4). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin and its add-ons several times, and changing the destination folder to the new/beta location on my H/D. It still won't work. I have also restarted/disabled the plug in, to no avail.

I'm running a 2015 iMac, 32GB RAM, and a AMD Radeon M380 Graphics card.

It's probably lower on the priority list for 4.10 than dforce and other changes. The team will likely get to it eventually. Just in case, you might want to convert an older characters now (with current release) rather than later.

  • Plug-ins go in the application folder, as do sahders (generally) and soem scripts. It may be that GenX isn't designed to work in betas, or it may be that it needs files from the release build. Do you actaully need genX in the beta? You could always do your morph conversion in the release build and then use them in the public build.

  • Thanks guys. I reinstalled the current 4.9, and it works again.

I suppose I can live without the beta for a while, or just get as many older characters converted as I can now, since this is probably end of the line for GenX2 once 4.10 hits. :(

  • You can have the beta and the release build installed at the same time - that's why the beta has to be installed with DIM, to make sure the coexistence works.

I have GenX2 plus nine of the add ons, so I don't plan on losing them. In the worst case scenario, if GenX2 does not work In 4.10, I'll either create a second user profile on my main PC for one of the Studio builds, or transfer the GenX products to my 32 bit XP PC (which is used for old games and Poser 7, none of which work on a 64 bit system).

" It may be that GenX isn't designed to work in betas, "

It functions perfectly in the 4.8 beta on win 7, 64 bit at least.

This will likely be the case, unless Daz implements a similar technology
    natively in Daz studio.

It's still working for me in DS4.10.0.101 Beta - I just did a succesful transfer of a morph from G2F to G3M to test it. (The only thing missing is G8 support of course)

I'm on Windows 7 and I installed the latest Beta using DIM - all the files in my Appdata folder and in the DAZ Studio4 Public Build folder where the software resides were untouched by updating from DS4.9 to DS4.10.

I don't know where the Mac equivalent of these folder resides, but in theory you could copy the files from the DS Release version to the Beta ones?
