DAZ Crashes - NVIDIA Settings?

I seem to have a lot of DS crashes. I have hoped, for the last 2 DS updates, that this issue would be resolved but it continues to crash regularly. I've begun to suspect it has something to do with my NVIDIA settings but don't know. I have been working exclusively in Iray since it came out.

The crashes sometimes happen while simply working in DS and making adjustments to my scene. Most often it happens after doing a few test renders.

Can anyone direct me to recommendations for the NVIDIA Settings?

I DO have it set to let the application decide on the things I can set that to.

    What GPU are you using and how much VRAM does it have?

    My settings say "CUDA GPUs - ALL" Not sure about the VRAM. Where do I find that? Didn't see it in device manager.

    My system specs: ASUS ROG G752VY-DH72 17-Inch Gaming Laptop, Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M 4 GB VRAM, 32 GB DDR4, 1 TB, 256 GB NVMe SSD

  • In Edit>Preferences>Interface tab try changing the setting for optimisation.

    @DarkElf

    For working in Daz scenes you need an updated OpenGL driver. Don't expect the "windows update" one to be the latest. For rendering you need a recent Nvidia Geforce driver. Again, don't expect the "Windows Update" driver towork/be the latest. Get the driver direct from Nvidia/

    Richard, I followed that thread and the closest I found was "Display Optimization". That's what you are speaking of correct? I found it set at "Best". Would you still suggest I change it to something else or is that where you suggest it be set at?

    Thanks.

    Fastbike: I seem to get regular driver updates from NVIDIA. The one I have is current I believe. I checked recently and the updater told me I was anyway. But, thank you for your help.

    Yes, that's the one - I meant to type display, not sure what happened to it. In general the Better and Best settings make more demands on the system and give better performance, however if you have issues stepping back to a lower setting may help.

    Okay so, the three choices are None, Better and Best. You would recommend I set it to "none" then?

    Yes, and see if that helps.

    Okay. Thank you for you assistance Richard. I will make the change and see if the crashes decrease. I will trial it for a time and write back here with the results.

  • My Daz 4.10 keeps crashing and so far, I have tried two of the three options from settings from the Nvidia control panel/Program Settings Tab/Select A Program To Customize: Daz 3D - I've tired both 'High Performance Nvidia processor' and 'integrated graphics'. It's still crashing. I've updated to Daz 4.10 and now I will try using 'Auto Select: integrated' in the hopes that Daz will make the right choice. I'm not holding my breath.
