A valid PostgreSQL connection could not be established. (FIXED)

I was trouble shooting in different posts and one of them had something about  postgresql.conf so I went to the folder and I don't have one should there be one and how do I get it?

(FIXED) Ok finally fixed it.  I had to download and install postgresql manually and it works now.

Hey Beautibella, I have the same problem and unfortunately re-installing does not do the trick. What do you mean by installing it manually? Are you talking about the two entries in the Daz Install Manager, or the complete suite from www.postgresql.org?

  • You need the actual PostgreSQL database engine from DIM, not the full stand-alone version but also not the Valentina to PostgreSQL conversion tool (unless you have a Valentina database from a previous install of DS4).

Thanks Richard - I have tried installing and reinstalling the "PostgreSQL CMS (Win 64 bit)" via DIM, to no avail. The problem seems to be that DAZ needs this postgresql.conf which does not exist in the required folder, nor anywhere else on my PC. The only file in the required folder is the dblog.txt. The problems started after a DAZ crash. The dblog says this:

WARNING:  terminating connection because of crash of another server process
DETAIL:  The postmaster has commanded this server process to roll back the current transaction and exit, because another server process exited abnormally and possibly corrupted shared memory.
HINT:  In a moment you should be able to reconnect to the database and repeat your command.
postgres kann nicht auf die Serverkonfigurationsdatei „C:/Users/Felix/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/cms/ContentCluster/postgresql.conf“ zugreifen: No such file or directory (translation: postgres cannot access the file because it does not exist).

  • It may be a permissions issue. Have you ever run DS or DIM as admistrator (explicitly run as admin, not just run normally from an admin account)? What security software are you using?

Success! I tried the admin-approach and fiddled with some settings. I don't quite know what made the difference, but now everything seems to work like it used to. Thanks Richard!

  • I hope you don't mean you ran as admin - that can easily cause issues (which was why I asked if you had done it in the past).

No, just tried it once to see whether that changed something - it didn't.
