Turn off shadow in Iray interactive mode without ceiling?

Hi,

I'm trying to turn off shadow in Iray. As I read on the forum, if I use Interactive mode instead of Photoreal, I can turn off the shadow. I turned it off in Render Settings -> Shadow and Lightings, but in my render I still see the shadows.

I don't have any lights in the scene except for the "Default light", I think it is sun sky?. I'm sorry I'm new to daz studio.

Here's my setting, please help.

Thank you very much.

    Hi,

Also in the scene I load an interior set and hide the ceiling, I don't know if that does anything.

If the shadows are on the ground, turn those off in the Environment render tab. Also be sure to turn the camera headlamp off in the General render tab (set it to Never).

If the problem persists, post an image of your scene with the shadows.

    Hi,

    Hi,

I discovered that when I restart daz studio and load the !Preload scene, then there is no shadow and I think no lights too? I've attached a render image.

When I load the !Ready to render scene of the same set, then there is shadow and I can't turn it off. So what are the settings that setup these lights and shadow? Because as I check both have the same parts in  the scene tab.

Btw I'm using Perspective View, not the loaded cam.

    Thanks.

I don't know this product, but loading a preset could change many, many things. That's what presets are supposed to do. Unless you can contact the vendor for help, your best bet is to find the settings that produce the shadowless look, and compare those with the settings that get made when you load the preset. It's also a great way to learn how the various settings work.

Avoid using the Perspective View. It's not a true camera, and lacks the controls of a camera. You can create a custom camera from the Perspective View by selecting it in the scene tab, and creating a new light. Choose the option where you create the new light from the current view.

Thank you very much. I have to learn more about daz studio for sure :D

  • I found out (the hard way, naturally) that you can't turn off shadows in Iray -- at least, not completely.  Iray is a physically-based renderer, which means that it emulates how light behaves in the real, physical, world; and in the real world, light creates shadows.

You can minimize the shadows by playing with the intensity of your lights, and using other lights to "wash out" any shadows that are created.  But as for turning them off completely...?  Nope.

I guess it's been a long time since this thread was opened, but, although I'm new around here, I'd like to contribute my bit.
Sorry for my bad English, I am Spanish.
I have removed the annoying shadows from my renders (in a sunny pool environment) in Environment Options / Dome Mode setting it to Only Dome.
    I hope it helps someone.
