By dfault DS will create two content directories - My Daz 3d Library in the Public Documents and \Daz 3D\Studio\My Library in the user's documents folder (and also \Daz 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Librarym, as I recall, in the user's documents folder but that's purely for Connect - content downloaded within daz Studio). Do you not have those folders?
Your "Runtime" folder is mainly for legacy poser content and administrative files (non user facing)
The Runtime folder will be inside of your Library folder
You can set Daz Studio to use whatever location you want for your Library folder (by default it's where Richard says)
If the content that you are trying to manualy install has a Library folder, that is where you need to dump the whole thing and it will go into the right folders.
Have you looked at the settings in the Content Directory Manager to make sure you're looking for a Runtime folder in the same place as DAZ|Studio is looking for its content files? I know it shouldn't, but Weird Stuff™ sometimes happens when the automatic installation is given a free hand, so it's important to know where your installed content files actually are.
