Getting an error when trying to run DAZ (see attached image). How do I download DzCore.dlll?
You can't...if you don't have the installer for the version of Studio you are currently running you will need to upgrade to the current version.
How do I do that? Is there a link you can point me to?
Now I see another corrupted file
Do you have the installer for the version of Studio you are running?
What security software are you using?
Why can't I just re-install the program? I tried that but it doesn't work
What version are you running and how did you initially install it?
I believe that I am running tha latest version. I can't check because two .dlll files got zero'ed out and DAZ will not run. I originally installed it by clicking a link on the main page here and just followed the directions.to download the install manager and that did the rest. When I run the install manager, it does not give me the option to install DAZ again.
Okay...go into your store account, Product Library page and search for Studio (if you go by name, it will be under the 'D's...for Daz Studio) and manually download the installer.
I tried doing what you said and got the following (see attachement) error.
I even re-booted and still got that error.
It's beginning to look like either McAfee or Windows itself is blocking it...
Why would it suddenly start doing that? Any idea how to disable them so that I can install this?
I always use manual install for everything and so far didn't have any issue ever. DIM and Connect are more error prone than manual install. Also 3rd party assets are manual install anyway so it keeps things consistent.
My suggestion is to uninstall DS and reinstall manually. Do not use the DS interface for that. Go to the DAZ site into your account and download manually.
If the manual download doesn't install either then I guess you have very serious problems with your antivirus and/or windows itself. Check if the other apps run fine. Do a system scan to check for viruses. Then if the system is clean you may try to disable the antivirus and/or the firewall.
Threads merged.
McAfee has been causing problems for quite a few members just lately.
Richard said this in one thread
DIM has an option to hide or show program installers (as opposed to content or plugins), and I can't remember whether the default setting is on or off. Go into the Options (click on the cogwheel in the top corner of the DIM screen) and there should be settings there you can adjust.
Note, though, that DIM will not show things to install if they're already installed and there isn't an update on the DAZ servers; you'll need to uninstall first, then they'll show up.
Two questions.
1) How do I uninstall DAZ?
2) Do I lose all of my content that I purchased and/or does it have to be re-installed or can I just make a back-up copy of it and just moved it over
If you installed DS using DIM then you should have an option to uninstall it also, using DIM, this is the recommended way
If you aren't moving the program to another location, all you need to do is reinstall over the existing location; the installer will remove the old files before starting the reinstall.
Are you seeing the reinstall option in DIM, after what I said in my last post? If not, it should be possible to download and install manually over the old DIM installation, although I've never done it that way.
No, an uninstall/reinstall of the program does exactly that and no more. All installed content, content database, content folder locations, program settings and a few other things are stored separately and will pop right back up again after you finish reinstalling. If you're feeling especially paranoid (this is recommended) you should save your custom content database categories, if you've made any. They should be preserved as well, but it's nice to have a backup just in case.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
I don't exacly know what happened or what I did to fix it but for the benefit of others that may encounter a similiar problem, I will explain what I did to fix it.
1) I did an uninstall via DIM.
2) I did a re-install vai DIM. Even though it said that it installed everything -- it really didn't.
3) I then did a manual install. It also said that it worked but it really didn't.
4) I then did a manual install to a different folder and it worked.
Again, I don't know exactly what I did to fix the problem but the above is what I did. Thank you to everyone who offered assistance.
I know it's five years later, but I had the problem of purple Iray render previews. With the help of the foregoing submissions, I managed to uninstall the application using DIM, but reinstallation using DIM was unsuccessful. I switched to Daz Central which by now had the option to install the application as well as the bridges. Using this, the problem was resolved.
That sounds like over-enthusiastic security software.
