How to render from the same position?

I know how to zoom in and out of a scene and change the angle and stuff like that but is there a way to render a scene from the exact same position each time?

For example, let's say I forgot to include a prop in the scene and I want to re-do the scene from the exact same position that I am in. However, I am going to have to zoom in and out as I position the prop. Is there a way to record exactly what position I did the render from, go off and position the prop and then come back to the exact same position to re-render the scene from the same spot?

  • Create a camera - put that where you want to render from.

Use the perspective view to look at objects up close and zoom around the scene - leave the camera where it is and switch to camera view to render.

You can make more than one camera if you want too.

And when you get brave and feel like an adventure...  Cameras in Daz Studio have all sorts of settings to play with just like real life cameras.

  • When you add a new camera there is also the option to use the current view parameters so if you have your view exactly how you want you don't have to reposition the new camera.

Make sure you lock your camera also, so you don't move it by accident.

How do I lock in a camera from the front position at a given distance?

  • Hello,

To do it, you can create a group object and set the position of the group of the object. Insert a camera into the group and use the X translate of the camera to desired distance.

You can insert in the same group also the subject. In this way, if you want move the subject and still have the same distance for the camera, you can move only the group.

Also parameters tab, dropdown options menu, lock/unlock wil prevent you from moving the camera or changing its settings. Unless I am misunderstanding the question.

I think the numpad keys will give you the different views, front, back left etc... I've forgotten if that's right though as Ive used a 3d mouse for a while now.

Those don't move your camera though - just change to different views.  Though I guess going to front view and creating a camera there would work for that.  Better to make a camera and zoom it round though - get a more dramatic angle ;)

The question was how to lock in a camera from the front position.
