Broken Kneecaps?

Hi. I've recently gotten into a bit of a pickle and am hoping to get unpickled. But to do that, I need some help.
One of my custom characters has an issue with bending her legs. Specifically, the thigh seems out of alignment with the leg, making it look distorted and blocky. There is a smaller, yet similar issue with the ankle as well. Oddly enough, no other characters have this issue. Anyone have an idea what's happening, and possible solutions? Images are provided to help explain my conundrum.
Thank you.
Edited for clarification.

When you say custom, do you mean a morph created by diect mesh manipulation (in a modeller or using the built-in tools)? If so, did you use the Adjust Rigging to Shape function to bring the skeleton into alignment with the new shape?
If by "morph" you mean using several figures to make my own, then yes.
The latter question... I don't know what that is, so, uh... yeah. [nervous laugh]
Observation: I had pictures with that post. What happened to them?
Admission: I can't into forums. Apologies for any confusion.
OK, so it's a mix of pre-exisating morphs you have dialed in? For that you shouldn't need to Adjust Rigging to Shape so that probably isn't the issue.
If you invividualy scaled any of the body parts using the parameters tab (Figure Name -> General -> Transforms -> Scale) that can cause bending issues.
So I should check to see if there's a rogue parameter somewhere that needs readjusting?
Huh. Would never have thought of that.
So I tried to do some digging with the parameters and nothing seems out of the ordinary (expect the custom values, of course).
I'll try the Adjust Rigging solution. Where can I find that?
So, I have some good(?) news: it seems it was a temporary bug. I was messing around with some of the pose packs I bought and everything just sort of sorted itself out.
Odd that it happened in the first place, but hopefully that'll be the last of it.
Correction: The issue is still there, so it seems the fix was temporary and not the issue. Oh man, this is driving me up the wall...
When you have the thigh and/or lower leg selected, click on the "currently used" button above the names in the parameters tab. That will show only the morphs that have been modified, and you won't have to wade through a bunch of unused morphs while searching for the culprit.
If you have any d-forms active on the figure, they can do strange things to your poses.
So I know that technically this is necroing, but I have an update (such as it is).
So far my experiments have not bore fruit. I tried seeing if one of the base models was causing the issue - nothing. I tried copying the parameters onto a new model to see if it was a one-off situation - same issue. I tried fiddling with the joints - nothing. I tried seeing if another character, who had similar specs and bases, had the same problem - nothing.
So this only thing I can think of would be to recreate the same character from the ground up and hope there are no problems there (which I'd like to avoid even if it would be no where near as labor-intensive as the first time). Am I really the only person to have had this problem?
