OBJ and wire names

Hello,

I have imported an object that has litteraly dozens of parts, all named WIRExxxxx in the surface tab, maling it difficult to identify them.
- is there a tool that allows to select them by clicking on them in the viewport ?
- once identified, can the "wires" be renamed to more identifiable names ?
Thanks.

I find it easier to do with a modeling program, but it can be done in Studio with Geometry Editor tool.   It allows you to select by surface and then create a new surface from that selection.  Once you move all the existing surfaces to new names and export the obj again, it should prune all the now empty surfaces.

    Thanks MJC,

So you create a new surface for each wire and rename it the way you want. Do I get it right ?

Also, what do you call a modelling  program ? (my obj is conveted from .max by...3DSmax)

Max, Blender, etc...import the obj and rename the surfaces.

  • Hi MJC,

I accidentally found an easier way : the selection surface tool.

It allow you to select a surface by clicking on it.
